Afghan Govt claims Pak Army Captain, suicide bombers arrested in Afghanistan

. .
Something has to be said and done to save their faces after the recent attacks by Taliban. So why not blame Pakistan, easy way out.

Good job Afghan Govt.

hahahaha
Trained out side Afghanistan by that he meant out side Kabul. Load of Bollocks.

If there is really a Pak army captain arrested, then he should be tried publicly like Kasab.

I recall some Mods expressing the sentiment that the Indian embassy in Kabul is a legitimate target.

.
Indian embassy is a fair enough target as it's exporting terrorism into Pakistan. Now of course you'll ask for proof, fair enough, you'll also have to prove any Pakistani involvement in the attacks if they happen.

. .
I am just a random citizen, not the captain or the Pakistani state, lol.

Of course it is, and all the Indian Embassies in Afghanistan which are exporting terrorism to Pakistan. I wonder just like the Indians Afghans have reached this conclusion based upon the tooth paste or toilet paper roll he uses. Get real PA does not need to send a serving captain for this, if it wanted it there are other ways of doing it so.

Even India's allies say New Delhi has a large presence in Afghanistan from its foreign intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing, or RAW. At least one victim of the February guest house attack was an undercover RAW agent, a senior Afghan official said on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.

According to Islamabad, many of those agents are providing support to separatist militants in Pakistan's Baluchistan province — an accusation New Delhi denies.

The reality remains murky. Pakistan keeps Baluchistan largely sealed off to outsiders. Western diplomats, speaking on condition of anonymity, say Indian intelligence is believed to be in contact with the Baluchi separatists, though it's unclear if they provide any support.

India also is keeping in reserve its longtime links to Afghan warlords, in case Afghanistan is again divided by violence.

For years, New Delhi supplied the leaders of the Northern Alliance, the collection of ethnic militias that battled the Taliban (and often one another), with food, intelligence and medical care. Later, after the Alliance helped the U.S. oust the Taliban in 2001, the warlords scattered into government and business — and sometimes into crime or exile.

This is perhaps why, Pakistan is working to destroy the nefarious units hidden amongst the goodwill gestures to destroy Pakistan. And these Northern Alliance guys were always against Pakistan, but very interested in their little boy.

India should disband their RAW centers and move their spies out and there will not be any more trouble. If they stay, they are targets for the ISI.

Read my above post, the one with quoted news. Its a very credible source that tells of RAW agent in Afghanistan in contact with Baloch separatist whose mission was long over.

I am unable to understand what you mean. Why is RAW there, supporting such groups, through them and their support people have died. You get what you give.

Afghanistan's police force has said that a Pakistani army officer is among the men arrested after it broke up a group planning to carry out suicide attacks in Kabul.

Security has been stepped up in the capital, despite the fact that alleged plot appears to have been foiled.

"Just a couple of days ago the police arrested 16 people. Nine of them were actually suicide bombers, all trained outside of Afghanistan," Mohammad Hanif Atmar, the Afghan interior minister, told Al Jazeera.

Asked whether he saw evidence of the involvement of Pakistan or parts of the Pakistani security forces in the alleged plots, Atmar said: "The evidence speaks for itself.

"We are investigating into this matter and we will be soon talking to our Pakistani colleagues.

"And then basically [we will] show this evidence to them and say is this happening based on a policy or is it just a couple of rogue people doing this."

Heads covered

Pakistan is under international pressure to deal with Taliban and al-Qaeda groups which hide out in the country's northwest tribal regions, from where they launch frequent attacks on Nato troops in bordering Afghanistan.

Al Jazeera was allowed to film five of the suspects accused of attempting to get suicide bomb vests into Kabul, but the man authorities said was a Pakistani soldier was not among them.

Al Jazeera's James Bay, reporting from capital, said that the men, who had their heads covered, looked young, with some of them possibly under 18-years-old.

Videos released by the authorities of other suspects showed prisoners to have suffered injuries. Police said that the injuries were sustained during their arrest, not during interrogations.

Afghan forces have said that the arrests showed that that tightened security around the capital was having some success in preventing attacks.

Fakhar Rehman, a security analyst and senior reporter for Pakistan's AAJ television channel, told Al Jazeera: "So far the Pakistan side have received no confirmed information about this arrest. The identity has yet to be confirmed.

"The military spokesman has no been able to say anything about this arrest. So we are waiting to hear whether Pakistan has been formally informed about this arrest."

"If this arrest has been made and this captain belongs to the Pakistan army this is a very serious development."

Improved relations

Rehman said that Pakistan and Afghanistan had improved relations recently, stating mutual committments on trade and security.

A battle in Logar province south of Kabul on Friday led to the deaths of two Nato soldiers from the US and five anti-government fighters.

Local security officials said that Afghan air forces, backed by Nato troops, killed 20 Taliban fighters in the northern district of Kunduz, late on Friday.

A car bombing and suicide attacks in the centre of Kabul at the end of February killed at least 16 people. Afghan intelligence officials blamed the attacks on Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistani-based group. It was the deadliest attack in the city since a suicide car bomber killed 17 people outside the Inidan embassy in October.

Nato's International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) entered the country following the US invasion in 2001 after the September 11 attacks on the US of the same year.

There are about 90,000 Nato troops in Afghanistan who are slated to begin withdrawing from the country in 2011.
