The Afghan Air Force received four new Mi-17 V5 Helicopters, bringing the current fleet to 31, six of which are the latest V5 variant. The delivery is part of 10 Helicopters, which are scheduled to arrive by year's end.

Good going. Right now this is what AAF needs. Logistics, CAS against hard terror targets and the ability to rapidly transport troops.

For at least the next 15 years, Afghan military collectively should maintain tier-2 tactical weapons only like transport helos, gunships, APCs, ICVs and patrol aircraft with ground attack capabilities (Brazilian EMB-314s). Their focus has to be their economy with a lean, mean well trained and well equipped army.
