Adversary: That grin on BS Dhanoa's face when he talk about Rafale

.
It is a life saver for them since in one fell swoop we negated the supposed advantages of 60% of its “modern” fleet.

The biggest advantage the Rafale brings is the Meteor RBE2 combo since it greatly expands the envelope from where they can engage with a high probability of kill while keeping out of the range of our AAMm.

A counter to this is merging the JF-17 with the PL-15 given target information and guidance from the K Aew system.

We could also request just the 120D and 18 V upgrade kits for the Block-52s.

. .
Never forget

Another recent interview of BS Dhanoa.

The grin on his face when he talks about Rafale indicates that either he is unaware of the countermeasures that PAF would take or he is super confident about the capabilities of Rafale.

Block-III with PL-15 or Vipers with AIM-120D badly needed to give a shut-up call to this guy.

I think we tend to overestimate BVR kills alot here on PDF.
Meteor nor (the supposed) PL-15 is going to play a decisive role in any future air battle. It's very difficult to get BVR kills in Indo-Pak scenario. Point is, it's not going to be easy or decisive for any side. At the end of the day, there will be close engagements in which better tactics and training will sieze the day. Speaking of tactics, it's another thing we overestimate in case of the PAF. Their TACDE pilots will be as good (and more in number) if not superior than our best viper pilots.
And only that is worrisome as far as I see.

He knows that we are soon getting PL-15s, and if this news is not bothering him, it means there is something else in Rafales that's giving him confidence.

I have heard that Rafale is unmatched in it's EW capabilities among 4.5 generation, and at par with 5th generation. It's EW suite is such a state of the art that it could defeat radars easily by interfering in their frequencies making it almost stealthy. If our jets with even 500 kms range radars can't see and lock on it, there is something to worry about.

I am sure that when our guys say that even if India purchases Rafales, PAF will carry first kill capability, they really mean it and have addressed this concern.

I am no expert here, this is what I have heard.

BVR is not difficult to achieve, its RoE that restrict usage in all but total conflict. Once that barrier is lifted and RoE relaxed, BVR employment and effectiveness will increase as well.

TACDE are some of the best in the world and will be greater in number; so it will come down the average pilot quality in the squadrons of both forces.

That is over stated. It has been matched and surpassed in some parameters by the suite on the F-15 Advanced, F-18 block III and even on the Aidews pod.

Thanks.

But do we have anything that could surpass it?

If i sleep tightly in my bed without any worries, it is due to my confidence on Pakistan Airforce after my imaan on Allah Kareem. The professionalism of PAF is beyond our expectations. Those guys are a standard deserved to be followed by whole world.

36 Rafales in the hand of IAF will need a decade to devise the plans and employ strategies. PAF will in the meantime introduce its JF-17 Block-IV. Our Thunders are not what they look like, every Thunder is an individual in the hand of an individual. Thunder have emotions, it can be customized for its own role. Consider PAF's Thunder squadrons as SSG platoons where each commando have its own expertise.

This is the difference between a home made aircraft and a purchased aircraft. We will sort out all the Rafale related issues in 2-3 years until they will be upgraded. Indians will have to devise the tactics for every single Thunder because they don't know what is inside a custom made JF-17 built inside Kamra.

We'll have unmanned drone swarms harassing their airbases day in day out. Assymetric warfare isn't easy. Let the Rafales turn on their afterburners to go after cheap drones every time the air raid sirens start echoing.

Rafale is a good system and Pakistan are lucky they will never have one. It is nightmare to maintain in terms of cost and upgrades, we need 70 to 80 JFT III to counter their 2 squadrons in subcontinent only game changer will be F-35 but given its cost it is not coming in this part of world atleast for 10 years now
