I don't know how true is this new that Russia will bring Admiral Kuznetsov Carrier to China for repair, US will not like if China take part of repairing Russia Aircraft carrier, any military cooperation between China Russia is not in US's interest. If Russia decide to scrap it, China can consider to get another floating casino :D.

Anyway wait until a reliable source to confirm this new.

No, any space China has in its shipyards to repair Kuznetsov can be put to much better use. Only if there is a lot of idle capacity should this be considered.

Why? China has already moved on from this outdated and limited design.

I don't know how busy is China shipyards, if China decide to accept the job mean China will manage the space for it. it's in China's interest to have military cooperation with Russia, there more they work together the more they will build up level of trust which only good for both nations.

China needs another carrier of same type : one for operation, one for training and one for repair, 002, Lioaning and kuznetsov are all the same type with ski jump and should not considered as outdated since 002 is not even at operational status. it can form a good trio for South China Sea :D facing limited challenge and will also enhance Chinese Navy carrier battle group's readiness.

The sinking of the large floating dock that used to carry large capital ships in Russia, and lack of suitable dry dock means in short future there is no way for Russians to work on underwater parts of the ship like underwater hull, propeller and rudder etc.

Thus the options open to Russians is to
a) built a new floating dock which will take many years,
b) retire the exiting aircraft carrier, and build a new one which may take more than 10 years to be combat ready and
c) tow it to Dalian for repair thro the Artic sea in this summer while the sea ice are melting. This will be the shortest time to get the ship back to combat ready.

The problem is are the Russians ready to admit that the Chinese are better than Russian in getting the job done? Also is it worth the trouble to extend the life of this old aircraft carrier?

If true, that would indicate that:

Russia is now quite weakened to maintain an aircraft carrier. Maybe Russia has the capacity, but, simply wants to further deepen military-technology ties with China.

Then it means China-Russia strategic cooperation has taken a significant step forward.

I think it is a fake news. From the Russia perspective, if it really wants to make Kuznetsov carrier be repaired/upgraded in China, it would only choose a shipyard that has proven record on such work. That is Dalian Shipyard only. But I really doubt whether Dalian could reserve the capacity to undertake the additional job. Dalian currently is performing the construction of 10 DDGs (rough) and 1~2 carriers. Must be very tight in capacity!
