Clever Adina Beg was a Punjabi Muslim from Arian caste.....like "littlefinger" of fictional game of thrones series, he used chaos as ladder and played with Sikhs, Marathas, Mughals and Afghans.........for most part he intrigued with powerful Sikh trouble makers and utilized their services , but once he attained the position of responsibility, he decided to get rid of all Sikhs as the latter were disturbing the peace of the region and were robbing and killing people. He could not accomplish the task as suddenly he died from a disease.....the snippet is from booklet on Adina beg by Hari Ram Gupta who has written extensively on history of Sikhs

Sikh sect became essentially ant-Muslim when Mughal emperors executed their Gurus.....the founder of the sect, Guru Nanak was from the period of Sikander Lodi and Ibrahim Lodi, and Afghans were not disturbing the man. The first Gurus were jogi type harmless people with few followers but some one gave false reports about their activities to jehangir (who himself was drunken man) and the latter executed their Guru.....then in Aurangzeb time, it was reported to him that Sikhs have established fiefdom in Punjab so he also acted against them....Then their last Guru Gobind invented martial code of Khalsa , turning his followers into militants. Guru Gobind's two very young sons were executed by a Muslim officer of Aurangzeb......which did it, they turned total anti-Muslim. The next leader Banda Singh was purely anti-Muslim, who either killed Muslims or left them alive after humiliation.....Sikhs turned to plundering and looting as they could not do farming in their confrontation with Mughals .....so in entire 18th century, their bands were plundering and pillaging from U.P to Sutlej and would attack muslim village or mosque whenever they were in the mood of doing that. Ranjeet Singh actually 'calmed' them down and disciplined them. If they became little bit tolerant towards Muslims , it was because of Ranjeet Singh who had empire to run, not a plundering band.

In Guru Nanak times, it was amalgamation of Hindiusm and Islam, but his successor Gurus removed most of the Islam bits due to anger against Mughals and included even more Hindu bits.....thats why British used to consider them a sect of Hinduism rather than a separate religion.

Credit to Adina Beg who used to get support from muslims tribes of western punjab, maybe being native even if mughal governor played some role. I'm not sure if I'm right but I think most powerful local muslim chief in 18th century punjab was some Ghakhar who was big time supporter of Mughals? Can't remember his name, maybe muslim tribes in punjab could have united under him even if Adina died.

He wasn't out to exterminate all Sikhs, but some of the Sikh Misls that were making trouble. The Randhawas that are mentioned who were under him were Sikhs themselves. His army also included some Hindu Hill Rajas, but was majorly made up of Punjabi Muslims.

A very good man. Allah bakhshe. Sikhs were and even today are nothing but silly drunk thugs. They would only fight in their jathas or under the British.

Pakistan tried its level best to get the Sikhs to agree to live in Pakistan in 1947
but failed

The only reason was these historical conflicts

SImilarly in the Eighties when there was trouble in Indian Punjab
some Sikhs wanted to leave India but SOON realised
that India is infintely better than Pakistan ; for the Sikhs

It is not nice to generalise an entire community. There are good and bad in all.
