Every country's population growth is adapted to natural constraining factors such as earthquakes and floods. These constraining events occur periodically and offset the excess population. If the natural periodic controlling mechanism misses the date, it results in exponential growth of population. It has happened in earthquake prone countries like Japan, China, and India etc. These countries have become very dense in population because the controlling events haven't happened for a very long time and have been long overdue. Once the natural events like earthquake and floods become regular, the population densities of these regions will be normal again.

Russia never/rarely has earthquakes. Hence Russia's population growth has not developed resilience to natural calamities like earthquakes. In general, during calamities, all over the world, communities just survive. During other times, it's population swells. Earthquakes are completely absent in Russia. So no question of relief periods (relief from periodic earthquakes) during which time the earthquake resistant population would surge abnormally in favourable conditions. Russia's population density remains low even without earthquake. Hence Russia is sparsely populated.

Do you want yourselves to be taken out by an earthquake. Please do, @abcxyz0000 it'll be a great service to PDF and India in the quest for population reduction.

India and China didn't surge in population because of any lack of disasters. They did so because of natural fertile land supportive of population and exponentially increasing health standards.

Overpopulation is largely due to the lack of freedom. When people don't have much opportunities to try all they can for the betterment of their lives, they naturally resort to what is left to them and what cannot be taken from them (except in China), which is to make babies. A larger family usually means a stronger social safety net, more economical resource sharing and a better opportunity to enrich themselves eventually.

But when they have other opportunities for better lives, they will be distracted and even too busy to make babies. People are naturally doing what they perceive to be good for them.

Well I guess everybody in the US could be like Ireland 50 years ago and have 10 kids. The problem is not that we are too busy but I guess it has to do more with maintaining lifestyle (which may be somewhat selfish or not).

If you have a low standard of living then it won’t make much of a difference if you have 10 kids. If having 10 lowers it then you’d probably think twice.

The high-maintenance lifestyle is just the result of improvement in life. Satisfactions breed more desires and the pursuit of more desires while maintaining the existing satisfactions reduces the available time and energy left.

But it is not a one-way street. Pursuit is not always successful. Desires always spawn faster than the improvement of technologies. The cost of maintenance will be higher and higher. The frustration felt by the population demands more alleviation. Liberty gradually becomes a burden than an inspiration. People want governments to step in and help them out and only in the end, losing their own liberty, which has a "happy" side effect -- now they get time to make babies.

Well I believe modern medicine has had a massive impact on our populations. A lot of us would have died by now from various diseases which today are controlled by vaccinations. Sounds harsh but nature had a reset button to control our population because the more of us means the end of this planet as we know. humans are running Earth to the ground.

SMARTPHONE HAS DEFUSED THE BOMB OF POPULATION EXPLOSION THE WORLD OVER.

Smartphone has defused the bomb of population explosion the world over. Be it China, be it Pakistan, be it Bangladesh, be it India or be it Africa.

Information for the unacquainted: Time that the rural people used to spend procreating is now being spent watching youtube videos. Indian television shows are crap but majority of the population like it and youtube gives access. Internet also gives the simple rural folks constructive ideas about education and employment. Smartphone also gives access to Facebook and WhatsApp. And I forgot to mention cricket. All this keeps them busy and prevents them from copulating more.

Finally something that works. Television didn't work. Till smartphones arrived in 2010, it seemed coercive methods were the only way to control population explosion.

Smartphone has done a miracle.

Edit-Add: Internet also has p0rn but that won't affect the effectiveness of Smartphone in controlling the population. Earlier, rural folks would indulge in sex because of complete absence of any other pastime. Indian culture is conservative. Given a choice between clean entertainment and p0rn, most Indians would choose the former. Complete absence of option is worse than a choice between p0rn and clean entertainment. Even if Indians watch a bit of p0rn, they would get over it and switch to other channels like drama shows or even political news.

= self-theorized bullshit.

Population growth is due to rice

There was a documentary on this, but I can't rem where I saw it from:

For every equivalent portion of bread sustaining an individual, the same portion of rice sustains 4 people. They used some methodology to proportionise them(can't rem how)

World's most populous nations are substantially rice eaters <== fact

IQ is the 1 that rely more on climate n geography. People from colder, harsher 1s have higher IQ points than those living in warmer and disaster-free regions

We need a Plague. I'll move to Greenland and close the port asap.
But plague to a single family will not work, and that too in Greenland.
Just stay among people and spread the disease.

O bhai, population in most of the countries is shrinking. Countries in subcontinent are lucky that we have a growing population. Study the world population growth before such remarks.
It's better that we are moving out and we are colonising other countries.
