Acer has announced a new series of gaming laptops, which follows Dell’s new Inspiron 7000 series to offer a potent gaming solution for a budget.

Decidedly, the spotlight is stolen by the graphic card in the Aspire VX 15, which is either a 4 GB GTX 1050 or 1050 Ti; not bad considering the laptop starts at $799. As a result, VR will be a no-go, but it still makes up for a decently powerful portable machine.

The display here is a 15″ IPS panel with 1080p resolution. The design is made fancier with red accents as well as two fan vents around the back.

Processor options include either a Kaby Lake Core i5-7300HQ or i7-7700HQ. Amount of RAM goes all the way to 16 GB pre-installed (32 GB if you tinker yourself) while the storage is up to a 512 GB SSD, or 1 TB 5400RPM HDD.

Connectivity options include 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0, USB 3.1 Type-C port, HDMI, SD card, Gigabit Ethernet and headphone jack. Wireless connections include Wi-Fi 802.11ac dual-band and Bluetooth 4.0.

Pricing, as said earlier starts at $799 for the base model which will be available later this month.

V Nitro Black

Acer is also announcing two new gaming laptops in the V Nitro Black umbrella; the V Nitro 15 Black Edition and V Nitro 17 Black Edition.

As evident, the display comes in either 15.6 or 17.3″ 1080p in the base models, but can be upgraded to 4K. Under the hood, you’ll find a i5-7300HQ or i7-7700HQ Kaby Lake processor with up to 16 GB of RAM (upgradeable to 32 GB by user).

Graphics card options include either a GTX 1050 Ti or even better, a 1060.

The two models do differ in storage. Both laptops can have SSDs of up to 512 GB capacity. While the V Nitro 15 BE has option for a 2 TB HDD, the V Nitro 17 only goes up to 1 TB.

Connectivity options include Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, DisplayPort, Type-C, Ethernet, HDMI and SD card reader. Support for Windows Hello and fingerprint scanner is included, too.

Pricing for the V Nitro 15 Black Edition is set at $1199, while for the V Nitro 17 starts at $1399. Both will be available come February.

Lastly, Acer is updating its Predator 17 X laptops with an 8 GB GTX 1080 and an overclockable Core i7-7820HK. RAM goes up to 64 GB while your SSDs can be stacked in a group of three in RAID 0. The display is a 17.3″ IPS 1080p or 4K while four speakers and two subwoofers will provide a more immersive experience.

Price is set at $2599 for the base model.
