Less than 48 hours after Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi signed a water sharing deal, Abrar Fahad, a university student in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka was murdered because of it. Fahad was tortured and killed by fellow students for nearly four hours on campus. His crime was having posted on Facebook that he was unhappy with the water-sharing deal. His attackers are allegedly from a student body called Bangladesh Chhatra League, which is linked to Hasina's ruling Awami League. At least 11 suspects have been arrested by the police and the Prime Minister has promised justice.

The susral of modi is defending its terrorist behnoi by killing its own people who are raising any voice. The student unions have been banned from universities in pakistan, some should be done in bangladesh.

An off topic question. Who destroyed the statue of isshwar chandra biddasagar in your country ? Was it bjp, or trinomul or others? Just want to know your opinion!

This killing is being portrayed as a mere ragging or political rivalry only to divert the attention. Raggings are made against the 1st year students while Fahad was a 2nd year student. As the reports suggest, he wasn't involved in any sort of political activity so clearly it wasn't a result of political rivalry.

The order to beat him (or kill him) surely came from the high ups precisely because of his criticism against the recent agreements with India to discourage further criticism from others.

What makes these agreements even more suspicious is that the media was totally kept in dark about them especially on the Feni river and surveillance radar before the tour and they came to know about it only when the official press briefing took place after the Hasina-Modi meeting. This is quite unprecedented since even before the signing of the defence agreement there were several reports about its possibility during Hasina's tour of India in 2017.
