Abortive act of piracy: IRGC Navy foils US attempt to steal Iranian oil in Oman Sea

If Turkey wants to become a nuke power NATO or NATO is irrelevant they will become one. If NoKo can stick NPT to US where the sun doesn't shine and go full fledge I don't see any issue with good old Turkey. Now shoo..

Offtopic, but I'm still gonna give my 2 cents.

Besides technical knowledge and having enough relevant resources, the most important thing is the WILL of the Govt. and nation to go nuclear. The WILL that makes you eat grass but to get nuclear bomb(PK). The WILL that makes you the most isolated country in the world(NoKo). The Will that makes you the most sanctioned country in the world(IR).

Question is, is Turkey as a nation ready to undertake such a long hard journey especially when they are highly connected to the International(read Western) world? Can they give up their lifestyle and luxuries just for a nuclear bomb? I highly doubt it. Forget every other crises Turkey is going through, these people can't even handle the rising prices(and jokes) of bananas even.

. .
If the incident is true then we have to realizes what we watch in Hollywood movies regarding American superpower is not so true. 😁 you can't execute your goal against Iran .

.
No contradiction...US was trying to steal Iranian oil from Iranian oil tanker by pumping the oil from the Iranian tanker to the US tanker ..the operation was stopped by IRGC naval units and Iran got both tankers and the oil to the Iranian shores.
That sounds complicated

This is what I have been crowing from roof tops, If one has the will, determination, and can sacrifice then no amount of sanctions or US chakka dance can stop that nation.. The rest is all noise for the sake of making noise.

Iranian military ‘foils’ US attempt to seize tanker in Sea of Oman

Iran has confirmed that its Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps has foiled an attempt by American forces to intercept an oil tanker, and that the vessel is now back in Iranian waters.
Iran has confirmed reports that the US had seized its tanker and transferred oil to another vessel, which was then taken to an “unknown place.”
The government said the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) had taken control of the Iranian tanker in an operation using helicopters. It was then returned to Iranian waters.

Earlier Iran’s state-owned Press TV said the IRGC had successfully chased off American forces in the Sea of Oman, and accused the US of attempting to steal Iranian oil.

The IRGC had “thwarted” an attempt by the US to take command of a giant oil tanker and moved it back into Iranian waters, the broadcaster said. Press TV’s live news show reported that helicopters had pursued the vessel.

The Mehr News Agency said Iranian rapid-response speedboats had overwhelmed the American forces, and that footage would be published shortly. It reported that the US had tried to block the movement of the tanker by placing warships in its way.

Yes, both of us are on the same page regarding will/determination/sacrifice/price of a nation/society/country to be on nuclear journey especially in this day and age . But there is a difference. You give an impression as if Turks are ready for that journey as a nation, I, on the other hand, strongly believe the opposite. Good day/evening :)

That's not what I said with respect to Turkey.. I said Turkey and Eyran "should" become formidable nuclear powers.

The whole operation is filmed by Iranian drones..

For people who do not read Farsi I explain the video

Video starts with IRGC naval forces landing on the "Pirate" US tanker (named SOTHYS) and heading toward the bridge . A US frigate is near by escorting the Tanker who had previously rubbed Iranian tanker of her oil cargo.

IRGC FACs are circling the Tanker making sure it will sail towards Iran while the IRGC team is in the bridge of the tanker..and warning the US frigate (now two of them) trying to protect their pirates in the tanker.

US warships call for reinforcement from the fleet..45 min later 3 coast guard types join the operation to help the pirates.

Iranians also call for reinforcement and more FACs join the operation..Iranian command ship can be seen in the video.

US helicopter fly and fire a flare..now FACs are in war formation..

Eventually US ships give up and leave

The Tanker is now in Iranian water. Who are her crew...do not know yet...are they going to be tried for piracy..do not know..

We live in a strange world when Naval forces of the US have become open seas pirate..!!!

I think calling US pirate is just political rhetoric. The likely turns of events are like this:

1. Iran is having hard time selling its primary product -- oil, due to US sanction. So, any sales in any form is a viable route, even with lower price than the open market. So they sell it to other countries in open sea. It is a bit like smuggling but hey that is just according to US law. This time, a Vietnamese is the buyer.

2. US found it out and wanted to enforce its own long-arm jurisdiction but of course US couldn't take the Iranian oil tanker. That would be in direct conflict with Iran since Iranian vessel is Iranian sovereignty.

3. So US waited until the oil was transferred to Vietnam tanker and then tried to intercept it. Vietnam is likely to suck it up since its economy relies on trade with US. Much like how China had to suck it up back in 80s. Iran just called this an act of piracy when US saw it as law enforcement.

4. My guess is that Vietnam buyer has only paid partially to Iran for the oil. Otherwise, why would Iran care if US took it after it has already been paid?

5. So, losing Vietnam tanker would mean that Iran loses a big chunk of payment so they acted by taking the tanker back. For the oil, of course.

6. For US, well, the question is whether it is worth it to use more violence to hold on to its recently acquired bounty. I guess the answer is not. So, US navy just made some gestures and then gave up. After all, US doesn't lose anything while Iran just tried not to lose anything.

7. The rest is just political display.

We will know better once the crew is shown to the public...there are already rumors that the captain is the same guy that US bribed to work for them in another incident few years Back ....so if that is indeed the case then your Vietnamese buy theory falls apart...it proves this was a planned hijacking of commercial tanker oil...oil theft...US does that to poor Syria and yemen.
Not long ago the British pirates too boarded an Eyranian ship and tried to kidnap the crew I wonder what happened.
Iran boarded one of their ships and after few months they exchanged...
