S400 battalion with 3 batteries cost about a billion dollars vs pak 8 or so hq-16 batteries for 3 regiments Costed far less

Even turkey had hq-9 selected against s-400 and pac but not sure why backed out and the cost was far less but it’s not true abm.


Chinese abm is hq19/26/hq-9 variant etc which was tested recently again ballistic missile defense , cruise missile can be intercepted by hq-16

Agreed but as things stand today economically for Pak...and considering the huge numerical disadvantage between IAF/PAF. It would be better for Pak to invest those resources in getting more offensive assets. For example a fighter jet can defend the airspace from enemy jets and also be used for an offensive...whereas a SAM system can only defend against enemy jets and offers no offensive capability.

This isn't to downplay all the advantages of air defense systems. It's just that in the current scenario with limited resources, things must be prioritized according to the threat that Pak is facing. This should be an eye opener for Pakistanis and Pak leadership to go into overdrive in terms of improving Pak economy. Once Pak has more resources than of course Pak should go for SAM/ABM systems.
