AAP's support to agitation against Kudankulam nuclear plant

We don't need more power plants, just proper distribution of power.
I want to know how many of you have given thought to the dangers associated with nuclear energy.

Disadvantages of Nuclear Energy
1. Radioactive Waste : The waste produced by nuclear reactors needs to be disposed off at a safe place since they are extremely hazardous and can leak radiations if not stored properly. Such kind of waste emits radiations from tens to hundreds of years. The storage of radioactive waste has been major bottleneck for the expansion of nuclear programs. The nuclear wastes contain radio isotopes with long half-lives. This means that the radio isotopes stay in the atmosphere in some form or the other. These reactive radicals make the sand or the water contaminated. It is known as mixed waste. The mixed wastes cause hazardous chemical reactions and leads to dangerous complications. The radioactive wastes are usually buried under sand and are known as vitrification. But these wastes can be used to make nuclear weapons.

2. Nuclear Accidents : While so many new technologies have been put in place to make sure that such disaster don’t happen again like the ones Chernobyl or more recently Fukushima but the risk associated with them are relatively high. Even small radiation leaks can cause devastating effects. Some of the symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and fatigue. People who work at nuclear power plants and live near those areas are at high risk of facing nuclear radiations, if it happens.

3. Nuclear Radiation : There are power reactors called breeders. They produce plutonium. It is an element which is not found in the nature however it is a fissionable element. It is a by-product of the chain reaction and is very harmful if introduced in the nature. It is primarily used to produce nuclear weapons. Most likely, it is named as dirty bomb.

Unfortunately, the govt. installs new power plants lining the pockets of all those involved in the deal.

Which power plant do not have disadvantages? Have you ever been near to a coal power plant? Hell in 10 minutes, u shall be covered by black soot. Imagine, the condition of resident living there.
U cannot have a coal power plant near sea. It shall destroy marine life. Environmental pollution, greenhouse gases etc.
Solar power plant needs simply huge amount of space even to generate 1 MW.
Hydro? Hell.. Even many NGO's dont allow those to get built.
But we want power. From wer will we get? Lightning?

Raghuram Rajan,RBI governor, said once" Change is Risky, but not changing is even riskier".

My sentiments exactly. Atleast I have the luxury of being able to give up on the country for the next 5 years. Indians in India don't.

even m getting my passport ready now.....par yaar country se dur raha b ni jaata fir ...damn:(

I hope this utter stupidity is confined to Delhi and not the rest of India....

Can somebody teach these socialists any sense??
Does the guy who made this statement even know the advantages of nuclear energy..

and the irony is that, the same party is promising a 50% cut in power tariffs in delhi state.....Its high time for AAP to conduct a survey on using its supporters fart to generate electricity....
Even the socialist(read anti national) commies in kerala are in support of kudankulamproject.

Now take look at how AK used pappu and feku supporters fart to generate energy and reduce electricity bill ...

You are fighting some people who believe in personality driven politics which is more dangerous for the country, but they won't understand your point of view no matter how much you fight ....

Wether you like it or not Voters of Delhi have proved So................

AAP can raise all the hue and cry it wants about Kudankulam, but the people of TN won't buy it.The common man of TN, while appreciative of AAP's fight against corruption, will kick the views of the Aam Aadmi Party regarding Kudankulam back to Delhi. TN, like other industrializing states, is already reeling from an unprecedented acute power shortage-a result of rapid industrialization and urbanization without any planning for the future .The government of TN wants to hasten the completion of all pending power projects in the state.

One can safely say that all the proposed reactors ( 8 X 1000 MW) will be constructed and any kind of opposition to the plant will be crushed, irrespective of the party in power ( DMK or the AIADMK)
