New Delhi, Feb 12 (IANS) The Delhi government Wednesday exempted some 24,000 people who took part in an AAP campaign against inflated electricity tariff from paying 50 percent of the bills for that period.

The government has decided to waive 50 percent off the power bills for those who did not pay from October 2012 and did not submit the bills until Dec 13, Delhi Minister Manish Sisodia said.

He told the media that the penalty imposed on these people for delayed payment would also be scrapped.

Sisodia said these 24,000 people who did not pay their bills were part of the 'Bijli Pani Satyagraha' launched in 2012. The total money waived off amounts to Rs.6 crore.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced the exemption and added that the amount due from these people would be paid by the government.

They gave these sop to their own supporters. all those who refused to pay their bill , arvind had asked people to do so.

So to sum up-those who defaulted , get a reward and those who followed the law and paid their bills, get nothing!!!!!
Brilliant administration i must say :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I don't know what's wrong with the people of Delhi, they are urban educated lot, how are they patronizing such anarchy?

Delhi is the socialist capital of India with its highest ranking intellectuals being the JNU jhollawallahs. Like all good socialists/marxists Delhites have an immense sense of entitlement.

It's a verty curious question- how will you handle this situation if you were the leader? You ask people to stop paying because the 'bills are excessive'- they stop paying and then you come to power.

I guess there are plenty of misconceptions about Delhi :omghaha: Honestly this has all the traits of a Slumdog capital.

Your bum :P

It was simply a matter of collecting 50% or getting nothing and disconnecting supply which would result in riots and pandemonium. Perhaps a wise political and revenue gathering move ?
