A 7.6 MW Solar power plant in Sirajganj district is combining Solar power production with agriculture. The first in South Asia. To make it happen the solar panels were set up high from the ground and spaces were kept among the panels to allow Sunray to pass. Crops which can grow in sheds can be successfully cultivate here such as Pumpkin, Watermelon, strawberry, Capsicum, Tomato, cherry etc. Authority hope to replicate this method across Bangladesh.

BD should not heavily invest in solar power plants as it has little land for this kind of activity.

It is fine to put them on buildings and then connect them to the grid this way.

BD will get plenty of power from India and through it from hydrolectric power plants in Nepal and Bhutan and so there is no practical necessity for this.

It should focus on building the 2nd nuclear power plant and also keep a few coal and gas plants in case there is any disruption to supplies from/through India.

We can also use our irrigation canal network and buffer spaces of our railway tracks for solar panels...
