A R Rahman has shown the world that he can do the impossible with his music. He is the first Bollywood music composer to win two Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday. Until then the Recording Academy used to only acknowledge and honor Indian Classical Musicians. For several decades none of the Bollywood music composers were able to attain such a feat.
Luckily A R Rahman got the opportunity work on for the international project like Slumdog Millionaire which gave him the scope to prove his talent to the entire world. At the prestigious award in Los Angeles he won for the best film song and best soundtrack for his compositions for Slumdog Millionaire. “This is insane, god is great again,” Rahman said as he accepted as he accepted his award.
The latest achievement is an add on to the international acclaims he received last year for his composition Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire; he won two Oscars, a Bafta and a Golden Globe last year. Rahman beat tough contenders like Bruce Springteen in the best song category and Quentin Tarantino for Inglorious Basterds on the best sound track category. This year again he is up for Oscar’s nomination for his Tamil song NaNa from the Hollywood film, Couples Retreat.
