91 civilians killed, 494 injured in police firing in J&K

New Delhi: Ninety-one civilians were killed and 494 others injured in police firing in Jammu and Kashmir in 2010, the Rajya Sabha was informed Wednesday.


"As per National Crime Record Bureau data, 91 civilians got killed and 494 civilian got injured in police firing during 2010 in Jammu and Kashmir," Minister of State for Home Jitendra Singh informed Rajya Sabha in a written reply.

He, however, dismissed the suggestion that the number of police personnel, who become victims of violence at the hands of rioters, is highest in Kashmir in comparison to other states.

last yr was unfortunate for J&K but 90% of those killed were themselves to be blamed. anywhere in the world if someone hurl stones at security forces then they have to face the wrath of forces.

when you throw stones at police and security forces you expect them to not retaliate? Indian security forces in J&K were brutally attacked by Kashmiri terrorists in the valley and they rightfully and quickly responded to the acts

That one year loss was not even equal to 2 drone strikes, but still loss is loss. It was unfortunate and we should be more careful. As someone said they also need to blame themselves for involving into that murky 'stone business'.

Abay kya apna ghar apna ghar kar raha hay? Kashmir is a disputed territory by international community, where as Pakistan consider it as it's territory, it is not India. If you can call Kashmir as India, Pakistan can call Khalistan as part of Pakistan.
