Around 89% of temporary displaced persons (TDPs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have returned and 93% of FATA’s area has been de-notified, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
This was disclosed at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Apex Committee meeting held in Peshawar on Monday. The forum, which was attended by all civilian and military members including Governor, KP Chief Minister and Commander Peshawar Corps, acknowledged the tremendous work done by all concerned in rehabilitation of TDPs.
The forum reviewed the security situation in the province and the progress of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad. Participants appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Army, intelligence and law enforcement agencies and pledged that concerted joint efforts will continue to energise National Action Plan. The members also vowed to eradicate the root causes of terrorism and militancy.
The forum Issues including the presence of Afghan refugees and matters relating to improved border management were also discussed. Alongside, participants discussed measures to facilitate process for main streaming of FATA.
Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa attended the meeting as a special participant.
