8 teachers quit after being told not to sing National Anthem on I-Day

ALLAHABAD: Eight teachers, including the principal of a private school in Saidabad, Baghara had quit their job on Friday in protest against the manager's decision of not allowing students to sing the National Anthem on Independence Day. The manager has already banned national song Vande Mataram and Saraswati Vandana.

The manager said the anthem goes against the community and should not be allowed to be sung in schools. The manager is running two schools and both are not affiliated. The school in Saidabad has 330 students and 20 teachers. On Friday, teachers of a particular community 'quit' their jobs in protest against the decision of the manager.

Principal Ritu Shukla said, "I was supposed to make preparations for Independence Day programme. The National Anthem was to be sung after the unfurling of the Tricolour. We had also lined up Saraswati Vandana and Vande Mataram for the event."

She said, "On Thursday, the programme was presented to manager and owner of the school Zia-ul-Haq. He said that Saraswati Vandana and Vande Mataram hurt the sentiments of the community. Then he raised objections on a line of National Anthem and said this too will not be sung."

When the principal protested, he allegedly said that those who are objecting to my decision on National Anthem, could leave the school. Eight teachers decided to resign in protest against the decision of the manager.

"I had said that in the National Anthem there is a line 'Bharat Bhagya Vidhata...' which was misconstrued. 'Bharat' cannot be our Almighty or master of fate and it is 'Allah', who has the power to change our future and no one else," he said.

Basic shiksha adhikari Jaikaran Yadav said, "No school manager can stop teachers or students to sing the National Anthem or any other patriotic song. We had initiated a probe and action will be taken accordingly."

Zia ul Haq should take the first flight available to a country governed by Allah, such nonsense shouldn't be tolerated no more. It's the never ending appeasement by the secular brigade that has emboldened such elements from minority communities be it Muslims or Christians.

Is the man re-incarnation of the man who ruled our neighbours in 80s. , as he holds the same views, notwithstanding the fact that he shares the same name.

there was a thread about wheteher India will get a Muslim PM. Many people (including me) told that APJ Abdul Kalam would have been a great Indian Muslim PM. Basically what we were saying that Muslim PM will be one who keeps the nation above the religion.

the problem is there are some Muslims who keep religion above the nation and they are proud of it. As long as they live in Muslim Countries it is not a problem but if they live in a secular country ad keep religion above the nation then it is a problem

And the greater problem is how the "secular" parties pander to them for Vote Bank politics

Where does gau rakshaak draamebaazi come into this picture. There is absolutely no connection between singing the National Anthem and Gau Rakshaa

Considering the country he comes from and was educated in, he cannot be expected to form coherent arguments and/or think logically.

I didn't notice that. Pardon me.

Yes, it is sad when some Indians keep their stupid religion above everything else. I don't understand how adults believe in fairy tales.

I don't care if you're a muslim or an alien. It's usually the backward pakistanis who open their vile mouths in order to spew grade 'A' nonsense. I thought you were one of them not because of your username, but because of the content of your post.

Yes I am an Indian First then a Muslim. Thanks.

Good. That's the way to go.

Cheers

Can't disagree here. This is dramabazi.

You know that some of the people use gau raksha as an excuse for hooliganism or just to get their fame? This sounds like much the same.
