ISLAMABAD: Seventy one members of parliament and provincial assemblies are likely to be suspended tomorrow (Monday) over non-submission of details of their assets and liabilities.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had given a deadline of September 30th for submission of details of assets and liabilities. However 71 lawmakers have failed to submit the required details thus far, sources said.
Those who have failed to submit the mandatory details include 9 members of the National Assembly, 4 Senators, 9 members from the Punjab assembly, 11 members from the Sindh assembly, 22 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 6 members of the Balochistan assembly. PPP leader and former interior minister, Rehman Malik, MQMs Syed Mustafa Kamal and PTIs Asad Umar are prominent among those who have failed to submit the required details and after the Eidul Azha holidays, their suspension of memberships are expected tomorrow.
