70,688 vehicles ticketed in Rawalpindi during March
RAWALPINDI: The City Traffic Police (CTP) challaned 70,688 vehicles during the month of March for traffic violations of various natures and also imposed Rs 10.29 million fine on them, a spokesman for CTP said.
He said the vehicles were ticketed for driving without license, signal, lane and zebra crossing violations, absence of fitness certificate, non-completion of route permit and over speeding.
A total of 1,183 vehicles were impounded for severe violations, 57 drivers were fined for over speeding, 4,144 drivers were issued tickets for signal violations, 1,725 vehicles were challaned for having no headlights.
As many as 4,063 drivers were challaned for using wrong side of the road, 1313 vehicles were detected having black glasses, 10,483 vehicles were issued tickets for committing lane and zebra crossing violations, 3,107 vehicles were caught and punished for impeding traffic flow, 209 drivers were fined for driving dangerously, 2,319 vehicles were ticketed for route permit violations.
Chief Traffic Police Officer Dr Mohammad Akhtar Abbas said that a special campaign was launched in the month of March against the violators of traffic rules. app
