5th 052C DDG N.o152 will join PLAN, 2014 China will own 8x 052C/D

2014. April 5th 052C DDG paint N.o152, it will join PLAN East Sea Fleet this month.

Now PLAN has owned 5x 052C DDG, 052C N.o171 and N.o170 in South Sea Fleet. 052C DDG N.o150,N.151 and N.o152 in East Sea Fleet. 1st 052D N.o172 in East Sea Fleet.

2nd 052D N.o173 sea trial now, 6th 052C launched. 2014 PLAN will have 8x 052C/D DDG.

I think both have the same weapon configs, coz still install type346 AESA radar and HQ-9 cold-launched VLS. Maybe N.o150,N.o151 and N.o152 have updated communication data links and command system (Configs 052D is different, latest VLS tech and type346A radar).

Ten years experince building 052C, 2003 ==> 2014, N.o170 ==> N.o153, 1x ==> 6x .

It's said 052C project will close, 052C DDG totally reach 6x, in the future others r 052D & 055 building. 2014 maybe the last year to watch 052C building for PLAN.

Thanks 052C DDG to defense our waters for ten years ! Now China has better 052D to replace, later 055 will out.

China 1-gen APAR warship(052C class DDG) will finish building in 2014.

Last month i saw 3rd and 4th 052D pics in JN shipyard, they'r still building shipbody, not install weapons and radar system yet. If fortunately, the 3rd 052D could prepare for sea trial in second half of 2014 but ready to join PLAN in 2015. I think 3rd 052D DDG might miss 2014.

Patient, my friend. Now is only april. By june or july, I bet the next Type 052D will have fitted most of the equipment and painted, ready for sea trial. The sea trial the most lasted just 2 weeks, come back and do some fine tuning and final installation. It will be Nov or Dec, ready for commission.

See how fast 172 commission, you will know PLAN is desperate to put as many of these game changer into the navy as possible. The days of Type052C which took donkey years to just commission just one of it is over. If Dalian shipyard really join in the fun. I can be sure, at least 4 Type052D will put into PLAN service every year. And finally, if Dalian shipyard is fast learner. They can commission 2 Type052D every year. Which mean at max speed of both Jiangnan and Dalian. PLAN will have 5 DDG joinining the service every year.

True that if the Type-055 has 128 VLS then it could be used for long-range land attack very effectively.

A combination of 32hq-9, 128 medium range range SAM and 64 land attack cruise missile would provide formidable air-defence and land attack capability.

I do not believe PLAN just commission 6 Type 052D. 12 or more of it looks a decent number.
