4.5 lakh Indians working illegally in Bangladesh

Did a little bit of online research on this, Apparently anyone leaving for foreign employment need to register with the foreign employment bureau.. How far this is eligible for top level management i'm not sure though

I only ask because I figured SL can naturally keep tabs on it bit (from its end) better than the region, given its island country and a better run administration + smaller population etc.

Your post demonstrates you may not have full grasp of actual situation inside Bangladesh (Biharis and Refugees, today and in 1947).

Please ask around and/or educate yourself. You will get your info.

The second part of my response was a question. So I am already asking around.

The first part was not a question.

For sure, It's not like they can just walk across a border, Anyone leaving need to go through a port, Or by boat if they're illegal migrants.. Highly unlikely anyone risking their life on a boat want to go to Bangladesh to work

Getting back to topic, The Indians we're referring to here are not laborers according to the article are either Business people, Consultants or high management level executives highly sort out by Bangladeshi business's themselves.. So the numbers would probably be erroneous on the part of the Bangladeshi authorities or just that it's a failure of their own bureaucracy and red tape that proper registrations are not done ie. Issues with extending working Visa's etc.. @Nilgiri

It can be of any level not just top management. When any Indian comes at top level they tend to hire Indians even in mid and junior level which can easily be filled by the Bangladeshis.

How many times does this "information" get posted and how many times does it need to be debunked. The Bangladesh economy just does not have the size to absorb 5 lac illegals.

At some places they call them illegal Biharis. Are those really illegal or are they those that were not accepted by Pakistan post the 1971. Those may be illegal but have nothing to do with India.

Yeah right.

320 billion US dollar economy that was growing at 8% a year before Covid-19 can absorb a lot of illegals from India.

How are they getting away with this??

In the US every hire has to meet local-citizen criteria by Human Resources Dept. You cannot just make unilateral decision on your own as a boss.

Yes.. I'm aware that this is quite common in Indian manged companies elsewhere as well, But then again it's also a major failure on the part of the Bangladeshi authorities to let that happen, Any nation should have a cap on foreign nationals being legally employed in the country, It's not as if Dhaka is short on manpower.. Maybe corruption is a major cause for these people to slip through

Dude if you have read the article they are not documentaries so government can not trace them and they get their salary in many cases in India directly. So Government can not get hold of them easily.

Bangladesh National Board of Revenue which also estimated long bank 500k Indian working in Bangladesh tried to raid some RMG or other companies. But problem is this require prior notice of the raid which led to factories or RMG to remove the Indian from the premise so the raids were not successful.

Obviously Bangladeshi Government needs to take some blame of it. No doubt about it.

If you fly from India to Bangladesh from Delhi or Mumbai you will see it is filled with Indian. Most are coming as tourist to do business or other activities.
