3D's max vs Blender!

Which one of these is the best for 3D designing?

I tried both 3D's max has better colors and shapes,While the shortcuts and hotkeys go to blender! What do you guys have to say?

In these two SW ,,Max is way more superior & User Friendly compared to Blender.
Blender is Freely available on their site & you can use it in your production.

No work! I just wanna design things for a hobby,If i was looking for work I would stick to 3Dsmax and Maya. Max is superior when it comes to color and shapes but the hotkeys for it are not that good. Blender has better hotkeys and makes it easier to use it but the colors for blender sucks. Unless you get the plug-in called yafray for it.

U can set ur own hotkeys,,,,so that shouldn't be an issue....
Lemme know if u require any plugins for max,,,,,coz max survives on plugnins :)

ive taken to 3d art,Shader language and Game Routine design as a professional choice.

3Ds max - Good for Accurate porpotion based non organic models and the newer 2013 version+ also includes vg good skinning and riggin features as well as reptopolgising features with its graphite modeling tool..(in comparison with MAya)

MAya -Good for Organic Modeling*Cough* Zbrush*Cough* and its intuitive control mechanics and animation/ rendering plug-ins.

BLender- Good For texturing *again cough*Zbrush & MAri*Cough*

What is ur requirement and ill state u what u need.3d design holds multiple branches what do u want to specialize in?.

And if ur good with ur hands Go for ZBrush(not free) Sculptris(free) best tools for Organic models..Buy a Bamboo or better with it as well or skip this.

I haven't tried the new 2013 version,I am still working with 2009.I am not looking for a career or anything but I would like to specialize in Game Routine design and 3D art.

Specializing in both is very very hard.I already had a stron programing base when i started improving my art.Im not sure if u have the same base. I recommend u go with one.
To specialize in writing game routines u need to be good with applying any API with the usual main 2 OOP languages (C++ and Java).

Learn Open GL on GLUT after uve become an OOP languages intermediate.(this is currently where im at)



The easer one is to just be good with art and Start training ur hand on Zbrush and 3ds max or MAya.It take at most 6 months of backbreaking effort but once u get it ur good, only thing after tht is practice to churn out clean topologzed models.

What can I say, I will surely go for Blender because I cannot install 3D max in any Linux distribution.

I personally favor 3D max but one of my teachers who tough me 3DMAX have now moved to blender.

Did you try wine or crossover office?

I personally don't recommend installing windows software using wine or any other software like it. Blender is available for my fedora 19.

Open Terminal and write this

"yum install blender"

All done. No wine like software required.

Wine can help to install 3Dsmax on linux but yea Blender is easier to install, Did you try yafray with blender?
