. . . .
Vast bulk of money being spent on the nuclear power plant.:p:
This is actually very good work .I will be very happy if we can make NUKE secretly one day . We are surrounded by hostile entity ( does not mater how much your party consider them as friend of BD ), so need to make NUKE sooner or later in order to survive. After all if india and pakistan have NUKE so it is our right to get it too!

Although this is to produce electricity but i wish one day we will make NUKE. As we already found uranium in sylhet and moulovibazar.

Even if we don't go for nuke, at least we need to acquire the technological capability to build them on a short notice if situation demand like some other countries.Conventional military need to strengthen a lot and special focus should be given to develop homegrown defence industry.

Exactly.
Conventional military need to strengthen a lot and special focus should be given to develop homegrown defence industry.
Agree. Sadly there are lots of intellectuals in Bangladesh try to say that even we should't spend much money on military budget . They say that its not possible to annex a sovereign land present days, they try to prove that UN will take action as they had taken action against Iraq when Saddam annexed Kuwait, or former Yugoslavia .

But reality is different . Even After ww2 we saw few annexation in this region .
Few peoples know that there were a sovereign state named Hyderabad that was annexed by India , later after our freedom fight India could annex or at least India would try to annex Bangladesh if Mujib did not compel India to withdraw it's force from Bangladesh .And later India annexed Sikkim. In 2014 we saw Russian annexation of Crimea; every time UN proved to be very useless.

So The reality is , if you can't save yourself , no body will save you ".
However our Military is very strong no doubt, almost all of our peoples love military except some fifth columnist , and we all know that military is actually free from corruption and politicization.

And this Govt has a heavy focus on military budget ( one of the few works of Awami League i really admire) , still if God forbid we need to engage in a full scale war , we will be in trouble because neither we have NUKE , nor we have this capability to make NUKE .

Look at Pakistan , if India ever reach near Islamabad ( although it is highly unlikely, still anything can happen in this world) , Pakistan will counter India with NUKE threat , so India will have no other option but to withdraw army .

What if india reach near dhaka ( it is also almost impossible as BD is called as defense heaven)? We neither have NUKE nor have this capability to make it .
We will be in serious trouble then , UN will not attack india as west will not lose indian 1.3 billion market.
So for our self defense we need NUKE more than the most . IMHO , for Bangladeshi NUKE ( or at least the capability of building NUKE) is essential for Bangladesh after food and shelter. I consider this capability as one of basic needs.

If our neighbours were America or Canada , i would not recommend NUKE , as maybe lots of us Dislike america or Europe , but in reality now they are much more civilized than asians ( specially south asians) , so their neighbours do not have any direct threat .
But in this south Asian region we have a neighbour who love to project their mythology and try to annex other's land .
SO NUKE is the only way to survive in this region , specially we only have 57000 sq miles land .

This is good to see. In an overall sense, this will lead to decentralisation. I also think, we should pump more money into areas like Khulna and Barisal and get the southern districts into more shape.

Yes i have seen those rootless intellectuals arguing about spending on defence.Even this type of thinking pervaded a large section of common people. But their numbers are on a decline in the last few years, specially after the Rohingya crisis.Bangladeshi people are now genuinely taking interest about defence capability.Just browse Bangladesh defence related videos on Youtube, you will see an explosion of videos which generating a lot of views and comments. So now on, if govt. push for vigorous expansion of defence capabilities, I do not think it will face much opposition from the intellectuals or common people.Balls are now on Govt.'s court.

Good to see BD people take defence spending more seriously now.
