36 dead as 3 blasts rip through northwest Pak - Pakistan - World - The Times of India

PARACHINAR: Three bomb attacks in northwest Pakistan — two in tribal regions near the Afghan border and a third near the region’s main city of Peshawar — killed at least 36 people on Monday, officials and a witness said.

The attack on the outskirts of Peshawar killed the leader of an anti-Taliban militia, Israr Khan, and two aides as he passed through a market in the village of Matni, said police official Khurshid Khan. Three more people were injured.

The government supplies a string of militias with arms and money to fight the Taliban militants.

The deadliest blast was a suicide attack at a mosque inside a religious school in South Waziristan that killed 26 people and injured 40 more, said an intelligence official in the region. He spoke on condition of anonymity in line with the orders set down by his agency.

He said Maulana Noor Mohammad, a former lawmaker who ran the school, was among the dead.

Yar Mohammad, a local tribesman who was present inside the mosque, also said it was a suicide blast.

There was no claim of responsibility, though Islamist militants have often attacked clerics or others who do not support them. It was unclear whether Mohammad fell into that category. Militant and tribal factions also fight among themselves.

Earlier, a bomb exploded inside a school during a meeting of elders in Kurram tribal region, killing seven.

Local official Khalid Umerzai said the elders at the meeting were discussing a disagreement over ownership of the school building. It wasn’t clear if the blast was tied to that dispute or if it had been launched by Islamist militants. The army has launched offensives in South Waziristan and Kurram over the last 18 months.

There is little or no government presence in either area. South Waziristan was affected by the floods that have swept Pakistan over the past month, with 18 bridges washed away and about three dozen deaths in the tribal area.

In a separate incident, security forces arrested four militants and destroyed their hideout during an operation in Shal Gazyan area in Kurram region.

Hundreds of people have died in clashes between Shia and Sunni tribesmen in Kurram since late 2007. AP

SO WHAT ?

Are you happy about the performance of RAW Agents in Pakistan ?

These terrorist are few and very organized , plus drug money.

They are Indian Sponsored. This has been proved in interrogation of many who were caught by Pakistani Police and Agencies.

Tum proof bhi doge (from neutral source) ya sirf hawa mein baatein karoge? And what's with the bolded letters? I know it's your style but seriously dude it's getting pretty monotonous, try something new.

P.S. @RAW guys if you guys really have such a strong network in Pakistan wht can't you eliminate enemies of the state such as Dawood, Hafiz Sayeed or Maulana Masood Azhar to name a few?

On a serious note, Itna focus agar tumhari Army/ISI ne Pakistan pe kiya hota toh tum aaj kahan ke kahan pahunch gaye hote.

P.S. Seriously man do you have any idea how ridiculous and laughable you sound? Do a favour to your country...post something sensible! or is that too much to ask of you? your next post will give me the answer!

amidst the floods, for a second I forgot that we were fighting a war as well!
Thanks for reminding...

This RIP part has gone too far, now the time has come to act seiously and boldly against all forms of terrorism and organized crime by GOP.
The killings in Karachi are no good indicator either, it has claimed tens of lives and still continuing.
Just pointing accusing fingers, will not lessen the responsibility. But sadly if this is the approach, then I feel Pakistan as a whole needs to look deep inside itself.
