Bureau Report
PESHAWAR, July 27: Police on Friday claimed to have busted a terrorist gang of three brothers and seized explosive devices. Addressing a press conference, City Police chief Abdul Majeed Marwat said that the arrested people were allegedly involved in various cases of bomb explosions in Peshawar.
He said they were arrested from the Ring Road area while travelling in a car (No IDG-4819).
During search the police found two kilograms explosive materials from the secret cavities of the car, Mr Marwat said, adding that the arrested people were real brothers and had been living in Waliabad locality in the jurisdiction of Pishtakhara police station.
Mr Marwat claimed that the gang were planning to plant explosive devices at some important buildings like Deans Trade Centre, State Bank, State Life Building. The police had seized various photographs from their possession, he added.
The police chief claimed that the gang was working at the behest of a neighbouring countrys intelligence agency on payment.
Mr Marwat said the arrested people had confessed involvement in various sabotage activities including two bomb explosions at the Peshawar bus terminal.
The arrested people were identified as Imtiaz, Ayaz and Bahadar. Ayaz is an employee of a match factory while Imtiaz is a property dealer.
The police chief said the arrest could help the police in nabbing some other wanted people, including killers of three Chinese nationals who were killed at a CNG workshop on the Charsadda Road.
Mr Marwat was flanked by SSP Operations Mohammad Tahir Khan.
