PESHAWAR: The city police have deployed 250 cops at all the BRT stations after incidents of trespassing on the main corridor and stations were reported following launch of the service on Thursday.

SSP operations Mansoor Aman said the police personnel had been deployed at all the 30 bus stations across the city. He said the cops would perform duties in two shifts and four personnel had been deputed at each station.

Mr Aman said the city patrolling force would act as first responder in BRT-related matters.

He also said the police had also deputed a focal person at BRT’s main control room for effective coordination between police and the Trans Peshawar, the bus operator.

On Friday, the police had arrested two accused after they beat up BRT guards after being stopped from trespassing on bus corridor.

that's a shame really. this shows the level of grooming of our nation and we are talking about the SOPs for fighting corona. our nation deserves the old buses which are very much seen in peshawar and karachi with people standing inside and on the roof and hanging at the sides as well. public transport in karachi is filthy due to paan spitting habit of the locals and in KPK they spit naswar. the seats in public transport in pakistan should be made of steel.

All what has happened basically shows what happens when the money is not spent on the human development and all the shiny new development is sorrounded by a pool of illiterate populace. Infrastructure is important but is not a big deal. The whole infrastructure of Japan, Germany and France got destroyed in the world wars, but since their people were educated, they recreated what was lost and turned it into much better. We need to make sure, every child is looked after like we look after our Orange Trains and CPEC, since the biggest asset of a nation are not bridges, roads and rails but its humans.
