2400 Sikh pilgrims arrive for Baisakhi Festival

LAHORE: About 2400 Sikh pilgrims has reached Lahore from India via Wahga to attend Baisakhi Festival. Indian Sikh Pilgrims arrived Lahore in three special trains via Wagah Railway station, where they were welcomed by the officials. The pilgrims, including women and children, were wearing colorful dresses. The pilgrims expressed joy and raised slogans in favor of Pakistan. Sikh pilgrims would perform religious rituals during their stay for 10 days. First of all the pilgrims would attend festival in Hasan Abdal and after that will visit Nankana Sahib on April 14 and after that they would move towards Farooqabad to attend Gordwara Sacha soda and on April 19, Sikh Pilgrims would return back to Lahore.
Authorities have made arrangements to provide security to thousands of Sikh pilgrims from around the world including India, who have arrived here to participate in Baisakhi Celebration.
Baisakhi is one of the most important festivals celebrated with enthusiasm especially in the Punjab to mark the harvest of Rabi crops. The event is generally celebrated on April 13. Once every 36 years it is celebrated on April 14. It has a great religious significance for the Sikhs.
