The Sovremy class of the PLAN is the most beautiful ship I've seen outside of JMSDF. It's linear lines, it's formation is resemblant of a battleship actually.

Same reason why I love the look of Indian Navy's Rajput class Destroyer.

The type052A ever was Super-Star ship to visit many foreign nations for China Navy, but im afraid right now both r maintaining & updated in shipyard, not in service.

The Sovremy class of the PLAN is the most beautiful ship I've seen outside of JMSDF. It's linear lines, it's formation is resemblant of a battleship actually.

Russia Sovremy-class in China Navy also old enough, imported in1996~1999 ... now 2x in shipyard removed weapons & radar system and waiting for modern update.

Yes...!! It was the main ship of the line for PLAN North Sea Fleet , which my ship made regular contacts. She looks so damn impressive for stern angle. When we made contact with her, you know China is there, with the red flag and yellow stars hoisted , waving.

There was a time when we did training exercise near Cheju island, we were surprised to see not a ROKN ship, but a Suika , lol.

That's going to be a game changer when PLAN fields a squadron or so of those ......

... as far as i knew no cruisers in future, only type055 DDG project in next 10 years building. U can find more information in the 'type055 DDG thread', just now we don't know building numbers.

If everything is fine, i think 1st type055 might launch in 2017.

Classification wise the Type 055 has tonnage to be considered a cruiser. That behemoth will be 10,000 tonnes empty displacement , so when she's full armored and manned at least she's going to be 11000 to 12000 tonnes.

She is already heavier than USN's Ticonderoga class Cruiser which is at 9500 tonnes !

well the 055 could be called a cruiser or a Destroyer, since it's bigger than ticonderoga class, yet the Zumwalt is a Destroyer, so however one calls it, is fine.

Personally Cruiser sounds better, so it's a cruiser.
