Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said two thousand megawatts electricity would be added to the national grid during summer season to help overcome electricity shortfall in the country.
In an interview on Friday, he said the government is striving to provide electricity to the people on lower rates.
He said currently the government is generating 1700 megawatts power through hydro.
The Minister said the government succeeded to overcome load-shedding from October last year to March 2014.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali said the government has started operation against power theft across the country.
He said 1.33 billion rupees have been recovered as fine for electricity theft during last one month.
The Minister said the Prime Minister has released 4.50 billion rupees fund to overcome energy shortage in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
