Two ‘terrorists’ killed in gunfight with police
MINGORA: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has claimed to have killed two `terrorists’ in an intelligence-based operation on Wednesday night.
According to a statement issued by the Malakand region CTD office on Thursday, police received information from their intelligence sources that some terrorists were entering Swat from district Dir at Ghakhi Banda of the Sarbala area in Kabal tehsil.
“When the CTD personnel surrounded the terrorists in the Ghakhi Banda area, they opened indiscriminate fire on police who returned fire and killed two terrorists and seized arms. The bodies were sent to the Kabal hospital for postmortem,” the statement said.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Kabir and Mohammad Ayoub. Both belonged to Bajaur district.
Meanwhile, police and army personnel carried out a joint operation in the Tambu Ghat area in Elum Mountain, district Buner, against anti-state elements, recovered one MP5 rifle, two SB jackets, four grenades, two solar panels, one binocular, two sleeping bags, two mobile phone sets and two detonators.
