2 Bangladeshis shot dead by BSF along C’nawabganj border

Two Bangladeshi nationals were killed by the members of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) as they opened fire on them along Charaldanga bordering area in Gomostapur upazila today.

The deceased were identified as Jabdul Haq Bhadu, 32, son of Daud Ali of Radhanagar village and Shahjahan Ali Bhuttu, 33, son of Hukmat Ali of Debpur village in the upazila.

Local people said the BSF members of Anuradhapur camp opened fire on some Bangladeshi nationals when they went to the bordering area for bringing cattle from the neighbouring country around 2:00am, leaving Bhadu and Shahjahan dead on the spot.

Lieutenant Colonel Zahid Hasan, Commanding officer of BGB-43 Battalion said a battalion commander level flag meeting between BGB and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) will be held in the afternoon over the incident.

According to the article - the deceased were illegally crossed into neighboring country (India) to smuggle cattle.

This is the price of freedom from Pakistan. Obviously a much smaller military and a much smaller nation will be pounded by the Indians. I don't know whether Bengalis ever think about it but together we could have achieved so much. For one we would be the largest Islamic state in the world while also being the most powerful. The blame is 80% on west Pakistanis and 20% on Bengal's leadership, namely Mujib Ur Rehman. Perhaps its hard to say but perhaps we should have diplomatically resolved the problem.

Pakistanis point to the Agartala conspiracy as the reason Bhutto acted so harshly but even Mujib Ur Rehman could not divide up the nation in one night. West Pakistanis gave him the needed excuse for this.
