2,100 Iran fighters killed in Iraq, Syria: Official

AFP | Last Updated: Tuesday, March 7, 2017 - 14:43

Tehran: More than 2,000 fighters sent from Iran have been killed in Iraq and Syria, the head of Iran's veterans' affairs office said today.

"Some 2,100 martyrs have been martyred so far in Iraq or other places defending the holy mausoleums," Mohammad Ali Shahidi told the state-run IRNA news agency.
Shahidi, who is head of Iran's Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, was speaking at a conference on martyrdom culture in Tehran.

The figure was more than double the number he gave in November, which referred only to Syria.

Iran is, with Russia, the main military backer of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and also organises militias fighting the Islamic State group in Iraq.
Shahidi did not provide details on the nationalities of those killed.

Iran oversees "volunteer" fighters recruited from among its own nationals as well as Shiite communities in neighbouring Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The families of those killed in battle are given Iranian citizenship under a law passed last May.

Tehran refers to the fighters as "defenders of the shrines" -- a reference to Shiite holy sites in Iraq and Syria that have been targeted by Sunni extremists.

Wilayat al-Faqih Mullahism in action.:disagree:

Which religion follows Iranian regime if Bedouin town of Hader and Aleppo cement factory are holy mausoleums for them? None of 3 Abrahamic religions for sure.

. .
May they rest in peace.

They died fighting takfiri-Wahhabi filth. They'll be remembered as heroes.
They weren't only fighting against ISIS.. but also against rebels and innocent civilians...
In the End they are pretty the same as the others, they are chiite jihadist.. Same ideology, same tactics, but different sect and name... + they get to support and die for a butcher...

Most of those Wilayat al-Faqih "Shia" extremist terrorists are fighting and killing Syrian civilians and less than 1% of them are actually fighting ISIS. This is something that native Arabs are doing in both countries. Not a bunch of brainwashed and radical mercenaries from abroad whose graveyard have become and will become Syria and Iraq.

Once again, like Barzanistan, they want to take the credit for fighting and defeating ISIS in most parts of Iraq previously held by ISIS.

Similar to Wilayat al-Faqih nonsense propaganda of "controlling" Baghdad or if not for Mullah's, 10 million + Baghdad would have fallen to less than 5.000 ISIS fighters. Those Mullah's and their supporters are the biggest joke in the world.

The rebels became ISIS, in case you had forgotten.

There aren't any moderate or secular rebels, except for the few Arabs and Kurds fighting under the banner of the SDF.

The Iranians sacrificed their lives to prevent Syria and Iraq from being taken over by radical jihadist lunatics.

History will be kind to them.

Nah they will be remembered as disposable fighters.. they were used by an ideology to die for their own greed and power. Nothing more.

Iranians volunteers are nowhere to be found in terms of fighting against ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Most of them have been sent to Syria to die for the maniac and genocidal mass-murderer Al-Assad (worst of his kind in the 21st century). I have seen hours of footage from the battle of Mosul alone and I have not heard a single person speak Farsi or Arabic with a Farsi accent. All I see is the Iraqi army (Iraqi Shia Arabs and Sunni Arabs), PMU and local Iraqi Arab tribes.

And in Syria, they are not fighting anything, but prolonging and increasing the trouble of radicalism by keeping Al-Assad alive who is the single-most and biggest source for the rise of ISIS and similar terrorist gangs.

Iranians, like Kurds, trying to get the credit when there is none.

The ones who will be remembered as disposable fighters are the hundreds of thousands of dead jihadists who accepted money and arms from the Qataris, Saudis and Turks in order to betray their own motherland and kill their own relatives.

Same in both ways... But in the End, THey're fighting for a butcher, for the sake of their "jihad" ideology. it's the same as ISIS or AQ, Accept it or not, nothing will change. But that's the fact. At least see the bad in both sides... no one is white.

At least the Syrian Islamists are locals and fighting for their own country and people and their respective ideologies, as much as we might like them or not. Iranians being sent to Syria and Iraq to die are just a bunch of brainwashed Wilayat al-Faqih jihadists who use the excuse of "imaginary shrines" to kill "Nasibis" (Sunni Muslims and anti-Assad Syrians).

How are they any different from foreigners joining ISIS? Both are unwanted elements and radicals.

What's worse they have also used 1000's of impoverished Afghan and Pakistani migrants/refugees in Iran and sent them to Syria to die.

Suddenly you see Mongol looking Hazara Afghans in Syrian Arab Army uniforms. A joke.

Anyway it is a good thing that they die there. Hopefully they will actually fight ISIS directly next time so both of them can die.

Not only that those Shia fanatics are a threat to the integrity of Iraq and Syria.

Al-Abadi for instance is going to/has already clamped down on the few local Shia militias that are basically receiving orders from Qom/Tehran and not Baghdad. None of such groups are involved in Mosul to their great anger, lol.

One such traitor was gunned down in Diyala a few years ago who barked too much against KSA and other Arab states.

This nutcase even said that he would attack his own people if the Holy Cow Khamenei said so! Such traitors must be dealt with like he was dealt with.

Well let's not argue even more, she knows it well. It's just that "emotion" is sometimes overwritting "logic" and "reason"

I am born to counter you Israeli b@st@rds,
Monarchs will be countered by their own oppressed people but you Israelis are the only case of our upcoming war. Do you know something about 2022 and what will happen to Israel in that year? I think there must be a mention in Talmud
