Srinagar: A 17 year old class 12 student was taken into custody for allegedly espousing the separatist cause on a social networking site.

Irfan Ahmad Bhat was picked up for questioning by special investigation team of the Jammu and Kashmir police from Ganderpora locality of downtown Srinagar on weekend, official sources said today.

Hailing from Nigeen locality, the youth was being questioned by the police's cyber cell for his alleged role in establishing an "anti-national" group on Facebook social networking site.

"Bhat has not been arrested. He is being interrogated for his role in establishing a group on Facebook by the name of 'Kalekharab'," a Senior Police officer said.

Kalekharab, which means 'hot headed', is one among the hundreds of pages which have sprouted on Facebook and vow support for independence of Kashmir.

The title is wrong, the student was not arrested, but picked up for questioning as said in the article itself.

And we all know what picked up means.......either he will spend next 10-12 yrs in jail without trial and FIR being filed or will end up in some unmarked grave to join the thousands of missing persons list.

There is no freedom of expression left in india --the so called world's greatest democracy.Oh btw i forgot kashmir is disputed land and not an integral part of india hence kashmiris cant have same rights under indian constitution as indians do.For kashmiris they have got their own constitution separate from indian one.

I read in an article that many J&K police officers have joined facebook and are trying to pinpoint the administrators and members of the anti-national groups on line.Looks like trouble makers are having a tough time in the cyber world also.

Who made you the Senior Member?

Kashmir is a Bi-Lateral Dispute between India and Pakistan according to Shimla Agreement of 1971.

Shimla Agreement is well within the Indian Law.
Shimla agreement is not worth the paper it's written on.In case of Kashmir only UN resolution prevails.

India doesn't gives a Rat's *** of UN.
So why indian leaders are running around the globe to beg countries for Permanent membership of UNSC.

Yes, lekin main apne ghar main reh ke jiski chahay maan behn ek kardoon...

Crap.

You cannot dispute Shimla Agreement. Paksiatnis signed it and agreed to solve the dispute Bi-Laterally.

Even the UN encourages both to solve the Disputes between themselves and said that it will be involved only if both the parties agree to it.

Don't bring your stupid rant of 1949 Resolution.:hang2:
Dude take this mannerism and rude behavior to the fish market, its not welcome here.

anti national ??? Kashmir is NOT part of India. Kashmir is a separate country occupied by India.

Speaking against Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir lands this youth in barbaric hands of Indian invaders.

Who knows if he is killed in fake encounter by Indians like other Kashmiri youth

lies cannot erase truth and people aspiration however india like other facist empires believe in lying until it sounds like truth...however nobody has ever succeeded in that..freedom one day will come to kasmiris..inshallah.

Hope this guy understands his mistake and becomes a good citizen of India. It would be better to do something positive like going to college .

It happens in all countries. But Kashmir is an occupied country and not part of India. So an occupier arresting a local youth is quite different than questioning of own citizens by own country.
