I was just reading about the National Job Portal, inaugurated by the Government of Pakistan, as it comes to my attention there are only 17 Available Jobs Offerings where as there are 61953 CV's [which would mean candidates for it]. And there are only 2 Employers Available. This shows the severity of the condition we are in and the failure of the Government to be offer more stuff.

Usually I do not criticize my own Government but this is alarming.
Pakistan Govt Launches First Ever Automated National Job Portal (propakistani.pk)

This was four months ago and since then there has not been much progress in it, correct me if I am wrong.

Here is a Picture of the Current Stats on their own webiste

So what is the Government doing? What are your Thoughts on that?

Correct me if I am wrong over here and I will delete the Thread. To me it appears that 61,953 CV's were submitted and there are only 17 Available Jobs and 49 Jobs were given to the people, or is it just that there is an insane ammount of mis-management in our government, that they are not showing more job openings. Thought this was interesting so posted. Have a Good Day :)

What is even more alarming is this

Bro that's not what you think this portal is.

The job openings will improve as the portfolio increases and more companies start using it. People applying for job does not necessarily mean they are jobless, people upload their CV's whenever they can in search of better opportunities. The CV's are not for those particular jobs but kind of an archive. Think of local Linkedln. Now companies etc can easily go through those CV's whenever their is an opening, e.g. if I need an employee for my business I can easily search the database to call candidates that best match my criteria.

They should add the feature of electronically verifying credentials in CV's by bringing educational boards and universities onboard.

Wrap your head around this fact:

GOVERNMENTS CAN NOT ACT AS PRIMARY EMPLOYERS.

Governments can facilitate the private sector, stimulate demand, incentivize investors and thus stimulate employment in various sectors of the economy.

The National Job Portal is meant to serve as the primary point of reference for advertising all government jobs. It will take time to bring the entire federal and provincial bureaucracies on board. There is always bureaucratic inertia and not to mention, deep vested interests.

Bureaucracies don't move forward, they crawl. Once the govt is fully onboard this platform, then the private sector will also be brought on board.

As for the 61K applications for 17 jobs, this does not indicate chronic unemployment, only a fascination and desire for 'sarkari naukri' that afflicts the majority of our population. Things are not as bad as they look.

What non sense.
Here in the UK the largest employer is the NHS. Yes government. Then the civil service and local government from bin collection to council tax. In developing countries its always the governmen that primarily provide jobs.

This is the case in Pakistan as well. In fact there are more people employed in government jobs than required. The advertisement is for vacancies and it will take a lot of time for this platform to mature, to get all government bodies to advertise its vacancies.

Besides this platform is not meant to be just for government jobs but also for private sector. The concept is the same as Linkedln. Its an archive of potential candidates with their credentials.
The idea behind this platform is very good.

Pakistan is not the UK.

For developing countries, specially ones where a majority of the population doe snot pay taxes and where more than 40% of the economy is undocumented, the govt can not be the primary employer. It is an unsustainable way to govern and no progress can be expected.

Please look at ground realities before giving verdicts such as 'What nonsense'.

In Pakistan, there is extremely high susceptibility for govt jobs to be awarded without merit to political cronies to win votes. This has been the story for 70 years.

PIA, PSM, PNSC, PMTF, FIA, DGIP, Police, IB, provincial agriculture, auqat/zakat, culture & heritage, energy & mines, forests, tourism - all departments have been ruined in this exact same way.

Therefore, it is high time that all non-essential govt functions be carried out in a public-private partnership or contractor-based manner.
Pakistan is not the UK, nor will it ever be.

Yes, European Economies are based on hundreds of years of exploitation and still have a lot of bargaining chips and bases across the world to support their operation, we cannot reach their level of influence at that point, but even if considered that there are only Jobs available in the Capital and those are of security men and literally photo copy machine operators, it is funny to even read it, its like the Government is trying to troll us or something, You are right they are not using this system because it will reduce the political influence to get a Job, because the information of that would be public, so all of this is just a scam operation. And yes it can be seen a local Linkedin but to be honest, as of right now it just seems to be an idea, that only to show for political purposes that, yay we did that, but in reality u just bought a domain and some under qualified coders (I am a Dev myself and a CyberSec Expert) and paid them overkill amounts of money to build the most garbage un-friendly UI Possible.

That's our problem, with this much data we can automate the Hiring's and take out those without merit, and that's the reason they are not fully utilizing it to its fullest extent.

There is a lot of potential here, but guys as we know mis-management is our bigger enemy than Indian, or Israel or the Terrorists. It is fair to say, "We are our own Enemies" and to just clarify more, making this Information Publicly Available for Companies is like OSNIT for Free for Hackers to exploit and use against them. See this and you will know, and I am damn sure like I can buy this database under a 1000 USD, tbh that's the level of corruption here, See this Video and come to know how this can used to impersonate someone (in theory foriegn intel agencies can and should be doing) (2360) Hacking challenge at DEFCON - YouTube Thus, Mis-Implementation and lack of proper devs and Brain Storming is causing this entirely fair and great Idea to go into waste and being end up a failure unless we take these steps seriously.

Bro you are a dev. You know better that you don't get 1mil downloads in a week for an app.

70k is a good number in a short span of time. The more the platform grows the more attractive it will get for private enterprises.
The 2nd thing to keep is mind is integration with the paper based rudimentary system we have in almost all of gov departments. The procedural changes etc.

Once it reaches a critical point it will grow exponentially.

Correct me if I am wrong, this is not my field.
