148 security posts removed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR: As many as 148 security check-posts have been dismantled in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after improvement of security situation in the restive province.

Authorities say police are ready to take full control of the scenic Swat valley after the military withdrawal.

Hundreds of security posts were set up in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to establish writ of the state and curb militancy.

According to police officials, security check-posts have been removed as law and order situation has improved to a great extent.

IG Ahsan Ghani said that police bravely faced the worst security situation in Peshawar. He said that police were ready to play an active role in Swat after the withdrawal of troops.

“Time has come to dispel the negative perception of the Police Department. Steps are being made to change thana culture,” he said.
