Saudi Gazette report

SARAT OBAIDA, Asir — An 11-year-old boy miraculously saved 18 people who had gotten trapped in the recent floods, Al-Watan daily reported.

Ahmad Al-Khuzaimi was honored by Asir Emir Prince Faisal Bin Khalid for his valor.

The boy left home to watch the scenery when the rain fell on the governorate last week.

He saw, not far away from where he was sitting, a group of people on top of their cars who had gotten trapped in the floods.

The phone lines had gone down and it was impossible to call for help.

Ahmad went home and asked his mother to give him the keys to his father’s large tractor.

He hopped on, drove through the floods and pulled out all six vehicles with the passengers in them to safety.

Good boy! I'm sure mom and dad are so proud of you.

The story just sounds like something from a fantasy book considering his age. Indeed a very brave action which was done in a mountainous terrain making the rescue difficult. Truly remarkable.

Many of the larger villages are either located on the foothills of the mountains/hills rather than near the summits so they are very vulnerable to flooding when it rains much more than normally as it did last month.

Such as this out of many mountain villages in KSA below:
