JAIPUR: Over a thousand handicapped people in Afghanistan would be provided with artificial limbs from the makers of Jaipur Foot during a month long camp to be held in the war-torn country.

The camp will be set in Afghanistan's capital Kabul by Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayta Samiti (BMVSS) and begin from June 8, said D R Mehta, founder and chief patron of BMVSS.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in this regard on May 17 between BMVSS, the world's largest organisation for disabled, and the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of Afghanistan.

A 25-member team including doctors, specialists and artisans would be present during camp, he said.

A thousand Afghan amputees will be provided prosthetic limbs, calipers, and other necessary aid to enable them to reintegrate in the society, he said.

This will be the fifth such camp being organised in Afghanistan.

In the earlier four camps, 3051 persons were provided with artificial limbs by the BMVSS.
