The aim of my post was to show how services are provided and a bit of comparison to where the money is coming from to provide for them. One cannot have free services provided by the government. My opinion may not matter (or maybe I don't know ground realities) but reality is there isn't enough...
You forgot the council tax, TV tax and so on.
Please understand that most of the money spent on education, health and pensions are collected as a separate tax. Council tax takes care of the street cleaning, garbage collection, school funding (most of it) and other community needs. NI (national...
Couldn't agree more. Just posted a long note in another thread regarding the responsibility. One cannot put all the responsibility on a handful of people i.e. the politicians as everyone is responsible (the share responsibility might be different).
Well I don't think the DandayWaliSarkar has capacity to govern again and I hope they take care of their responsibility of serving the country.
Well what do you mean by CriminalEntperise? Are these internal or external elements?
Redemption is not near and real Pakistan is nowhere to be seen...
Some type of filtration is used before sending water through the drip lines. People in the USA feeding liquid manure to the fields through sub surface drip irrigation so I am sure there are ways to deal with impurities in water. These drip lines also need to be flushed every few months I think.
This is a great thread. I would try to contribute as best as I can. There are so many ideas but ideas alone won't make any difference unless until we start to implement. I will therefore go through the ideas already presented and try to elaborate on them:
Adopting a village/school as mentioned...
India is producing GM crops so cross pollination will happen regardless. GM crops are already in the food chain. Look at how much soybean Pakistan imports together with other products. Soybean is used in animal/poultry feed intensively hence the chicken we eat is eating feed made of GM crops...
This is do able easily with very little government intervention by providing net metering for every household and installing solar panels (similar to UK). The benefit is two fold; Reduce the distribution losses plus also reduce demand at peak times (during summer). Same goes for agriculture...
The thread is progressing nicely and as promised to write something about agriculture. Before I start with the suggestions and thoughts on agriculture, I will touch on a few points which are essential and a few of members have already mentioned (These are not in order as all will need to be...
Can the mods clean this thread please. So a constructive discussion can be started on solutions rather than complaining about the ills with society and politics. I could write something about agriculture and how to improve as well as related industry. @313ghazi good attempt.
Slow down Sir. Think about the population demographics. We can try to see how many of the ~210 million souls living in Pakistan should be registered for Tax purposes as well as how many of them would be liable to pay taxes. I have below some figures from wiki (not the best source but for...
I purposed a similar idea a few years ago where each province/state gets a dam built for them so everyone gets their fair share. It will solve two problems with 1 stone. Dams will be built as well as flood water could be utilised.
Why not utilise the water efficiently. Build a few reservoirs and upgrade the canal system by lining it. Release water from reservoirs when needed. Drip irrigation and no till farming could also be introduced. The list is long and desalination plant isn't in it....
Have a look at the table for crop yields. Our crop yields are way less than USA/Europe. Even India has better crop yields than us. If we can even find a parity in crop yields it will be enough for our increased population for short to medium term. We need to introduce modern agriculture...
I have looked into this a few years ago and started a thread. Do you have records of how much water Pakistan is losing from the construction of new Dams in IOK/India?
Please also read my thread here (my tables/charts might be a bit old but you should get a sense of what can be done to improve)...
(will watch video later on) Why now and why not get the Auqaf minister of the time to present his side? What about the thousands of people affected by this (some estimated at around 100k).
So another case on Nawaz. Auqaf was sleeping for 32 years (interesting) when in the meantime the land was sold to many and government collected taxes. Another political drama at the expense of poor people who may well lose their life savings.
In UK Masters degree is full 12 months course and that applies to all graduates of any university in UK (including Oxford).
On Topic: this is a very good step and a much needed one.
