The 1st & 2nd graphs below are the data from IMF for Growth-rates of Per Capita GDP (PPP) for Bangladesh and our country. Clearly, there is a steady downward trend for our country and a consistent upward trend for Bangladesh over the last 30...
So you do think that Bangladesh will overtake us, but you feel it will take about 2 decades for them to do this.
I have a heard a number of people voice an opinion similar to yours, i.e. that Pakistan will soon grow faster than 3% and rapidly reach 8-9-10% growth rates.
Perhaps this will...
This will not do. We cannot continue like this. Sooner or later we will have to wake up and face the arduous task of economy-building that lies ahead of us......

Good points.
(A) Even though I am not personally convinced of its complete truth, there seems to be some evidence that the East Asian countries you mention have higher intelligence (statistically) then the South Asian countries we are discussing in this thread. Could this be an explanation...
I think he was talking about growth-rates and not the size of per capita GDP itself. As you can see from the IMF Data below, the overtake of the growth-rate of total economy (1st graph) & per capita economy (2nd graph) happened in 1992-1993 or so. The actual per capita GDP overtake (3rd graph)...
Where is all this anger coming from? What is its source? What is its destination? What does it hope to achieve along the way?
Even though I am not an expert-Paindoo, let me agree with you for once that we do seem have Super-Buffaloes in our timeless Punjabi da Pindan with their...
My naani says our Economy is at least 125 times bigger than the one officially reported.
If I accept her opinion, I calculate our economy to be around 26.5 Trillion US$ (Nominal) with a per capita income of 132,500 US$ (Nominal). Therefore, according to my naani, our country is the...
Punjab 1960: 110 kg
Sindh 1960: 45 kg
Punjab 1972: 80 kg
Sindh 1972: 30 kg
Since then Punjabi settlers having been moving in to occupy Sindh and have changed the demographics.
Dairy consumption? Punjabis? False-flaggers?
Snap out of it. Pull yourself together. We don't want to...
Brain drain has always been a problem for all South Asian countries. Here is the latest World Bank Data for the percentage of all college-educated (tertiary-educated) people of South-Asian countries who are leaving their country of origin.
I stand by my statement about the Punjabis (on both sides of the border) & their dairy-centric food culture.
"The fact is that milk consumption is at least twice India's in all four provinces of Pakistan....and growing faster ": Where is the data to support this claim? The link you have...

On Page 11 of the above-linked Pakistan Finance Ministry 2012 report it says:
"Around 68 percent of Pakistans population is in the youth category (under 30 years) with the size of the
workforce increasing by over 3 percent annually...
The IMF projections are only for the next 5 years (2012-17). Climate change is a longer-term phenomenon.
However, you are correct that really long-term predictions are difficult to make because of "Climate Change". This is why most people would take the following very long-term predictions...

At the very minimum, the report says, we need a GDP growth rate "in excess of 7 percent". Of course, it would be good if we could achieve 9-10%, but what is our track-record for this kind of performance?

I am afraid I, for one, did not quite get your point. In fact, I think I probably missed it altogether.
You say:
(1) Pakistan's comparison to Bangladesh is totally illogical.
(2) (i) Pakistan should be compared with Iran, Turkey, Egypt, South Africa or Mexico.
(2) (ii) Bangladesh should...

We can see a clear trend that on a long-term basis, Bangladesh has been consistently performing better than our country in terms of slower population growth. In addition, our Human Development Index...
I did not know that there were two separate Taliban organizations. I thought that Hakimullah's people and Mullah Omar's people were just different factions of the same madrasa-student organization fighting to build an Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan and Pakistan so as to bring in...
