    The way it goes is that Pashtun folk-lore says they're all descended from Qais Abdur Rashid, who came from Ghor province (Afghanistan) and is buried in the Suleiman mountains. Make of it what you will.

They will have some eastern Iranic in them because (as you rightly said) they do share some tribal names with the Pashtuns, but not too much.     They are genetically and linguistically north-western Iranics. Some Baloch are dark (mainly Brahuis), others are light skinned. They are different from Punjabis and Sindhis in the sense that they have less dark-skinned and more light skinned people among them.
