Nice CGs, but I agree with @obj 75A. Why did those guys think this powerful ship would operate UAVs only? The EMALS/AAG is to circumvent using STOVL fighters. We will see manned fighters like J-35 on 076. I don't think PLAN and the designer are as uncreative as those guys.

Type 076 will be an all-around vessel. A light- or mid-weight aircraft carrier is surely one of the multiple roles it's capable of. I am sure PLAN's next generation of carrier-based fighters (aka J-35) will be an important part of the air wing. It will also be a great help when the ship is...

Type 076 will be an LHA in the first place. So it will be less likely to see it has extended flight deck at least on the starboard side. On the port side the flight deck may be extended though. If the ship is big enough, say 60K tonnes, an angled flight deck can be added to allow taking off and...

I was not focusing when I replied to the last post. Yes, the point is that 076 will be able to operate regular aircraft like J-35. For future STOVL (IF PLA gets it eventually), they can be used even on 075.

It's happening. The EMALS catapult is for drones like GJ-11. In the future it may support Chines STOVL aircrafts.

Looks like larger 076 with IEP and EMALS/AAG is on its way. :dance3: That may have explained why we are not building more 075's at this time.
