Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

Agree x 1million. YPG would've loved to let ISIS take over some territory and blame it on Turkey, and it wouldn't surprise me if YPG even bombed a European city or 2 and made it look like ISIS did it - it would've been a repeat of the 2015 PR disaster which made Turkey look bad in the world...

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

Now's a good time to review your genius opinions about past operations: - Not sounding so smart today, eh? Words of a genius, eh? This is the problem with the world - it's got too many idiots who are proven wrong over and over again but still they delude themselves into thinking that those...

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

Do you actually believe operation planners didn't think of this, the most obvious of things? Assad wants DeZ oil fields. If YPG gives them to him, then that's great - Assad has to fight ISIS for it. If not, either Turkey will make a deal with Assad for a combined attack on ISIS and YPG, or will...

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

Nobody said it's delayed for "months". Stop spreading crap. He said they would delay it while US pulls out of Syria, which will take no more than 30 days. This is the smart move - the only card SDF has to play is the ISIS card, and that will be dealt with as part of the start of the operation.

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

Normally I would agree but Macron would love a skirmish between France and Turkey so he can distract his own country from trying to get rid of him. If the protests are bad again this weekend, it wouldn't surprise me if France behaved like the degenerates they are and started something. There's...

To clarify - CAFRAD has different radars as part of it. This tests tests the CFR and AYR radars, which have a range of 150km (it also tests the IFF, which has a range of 450km, but that's not really a radar). The long range search radar, which has a range of 450km, isn't in this test.

Probably both deals will go ahead but US will pay a large chunk of the S-400 cost (indirectly, by reducing the cost of the Patriots), and be allowed to secretly examine it. But I expect Russia will expect this and renege on the deal. Overall, good outcome for Turkey no matter what happens.

    Turkish Engine Programs

Yep looks like you were right. Engine power matches too. I still wonder why they keep it secret though.

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

Yes, let's work with Assad to eliminate the group his dad created and which he has supported to this day. Why not just cut out the middle man and arm the PKK ourselves? And let's not forget the super high likelihood of a nepotistic mass murdering dictatorship being elected if free elections ever...

Good lecture. Wish it didn't cut off toward the end, right when he started to talk about the engines they've developed, including one which is classified but has racked up 15000 flight hours (?!)

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

I don't see how this is possible. The logistics necessary for the operation won't even be finished for another week at least. Also, YPG can still slow the operation down in urban warfare, not to mention they will probably try to open a front in Afrin to ease pressure (which won't be effective...

I've only seen a few Kirpis. I don't think there's enough equipment there to start an operation before Christmas.

I wonder if the freeze in progress against ISIS near Deir Ezzor for the past year has been YPG dragging its feet knowing that once they finish the job they will be thrown to the sharks (Turkey). If US realises this, they might have an agreement with Turkey where, when YPG cries and retreats from...

Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

To make sure there's no conflict with the US or Russia. This way they know Turkey is serious and there's a few days to avert serious issues if they exist. YPG has no hope against Turkey anyway so militarily it's not a big loss. The same kind of announcement was made prior to Euphrates Shield and...
