This country isn’t Islamic, this country isn’t democratic, nor it is free: Maulana Diesel new rants

I must agree. There are certain things that need changing quickly (the Hudood Laws being case in point). Let's just hope we act on logic rather than emotion.

Newly-elected MNAs take oath in landmark session today

I must agree. Ours is still a nascent democracy. We can't expect to become France in the next five years. The volatile state of affairs (including the rocky first years) have led to the army becoming an institution on par with (and stronger than) Parliament, Cabinet, and the Courts of Law. If...

This country isn’t Islamic, this country isn’t democratic, nor it is free: Maulana Diesel new rants

Touche. I think, at present, our problem isn't that our laws, or our constitution isn't "Islamic"; it's more that such laws aren't enforced, leading to moral decay. Our constitution is as Islamic as it might need to be, falling just short of Shariah.

Bilawal angry at Naya Pakistan: terms withdrawal of security from ex-PM Gilani a 'criminal act'

Ah, yes. Loot and plunder the country of its wealth, chewing it clean to the bone (and sucking the marrow out of that too), and then lead your life with privileges unheard of in the civilised world. 1947 mein goron say, aur 2018 mein haraamkhoron say azadi pai. I hope that the history books are...

This country isn’t Islamic, this country isn’t democratic, nor it is free: Maulana Diesel new rants

This level of hypocrisy is absolutely nauseating. Pakistan was Islamic until a few months ago. Certainly, whilst the hon'ble mullah sahib was dining in his govt house in the Ministers' Enclave, the country was the bastion of Islam. It was held to the utmost standards of freedom and democracy, as...

Taliban Khan fighting for minority rights

Nobody's putting words in your mouth my friend. I simply pointed out what I observe in most retrogressive non-liberals. However, I still demand what you mean by that meme. And who says I'm a liberal? Stop putting words in my mouth, sir!

Taliban Khan fighting for minority rights

And in which speech does the Quaid call for the Muslims to kill the Hindus, the Sikhs, the Christians, and the Parsis? What absolute nonsense! The speech in question is a wonderful example of the fact that the man advocated tolerance! It is relevant to the OP and our situation today. Or, maybe...

Taliban Khan fighting for minority rights

I earnestly hope that he is able to keep this promise. We must ensure equality and freedom to all, irrespective of colour, caste or creed. We must ensure that we become tolerant and understanding, so that peace and liberty prevail. On this day, the 11th of August, it appears only fitting to...

    Revival of Mess Culture

Fair enough, and very right and understandable. None of your points are false, ofc. It's just a bloody shame though, and I think you'll agree. BTW, just out of interest, which unit do you belong to? We've traditionally focused on endurance, which much better serves our purpose and requirements...

    Revival of Mess Culture

The mess isn't pompous. The primary purpose is to serve as the home of the living in members. But the mess really was a great social leveller, and put offrs at ease. The army is supposed to be one big family. This war will be over one day, and the duties shall decrease. I dunno. The British...

    Revival of Mess Culture

Agreed. Have observed the same. Especially social media. The attractions which were once only seen in the anteroom are now available within the offrs room, and at a greater comfort level. I really, REALLY hope that steps are taken to remedy this otherwise an important part of grooming YOs will...

    Revival of Mess Culture

Hello and welcome all! I was just wondering as to the experience of the valued serving and retired offrs who are memebers of this forum regarding mess life in the army today. As per my understanding/observation, mess life has diminished over the past 20 years, and officers much prefer staying...

    Abandoning status as "Islamic Republic"

This is a very, very, VERY sensitive topic, and whilst I may be in no position to comment on it, I shall do so for the interest of the argument: What Pakistan needs is a true understanding of religion... There needs to be a reconstruction of political thought in Islam (which is the state...

Talis being defeated as we speak.

Let's see what materialises... I see the future as gloomy and dismal... Until then, all we have is a bit of B.B. King and Muddy Waters to ease it up....

Pakistan parliament condemns hanging of war criminals in Bangladesh

Oh, for God's sake! My comment should be taken into context with @tsinga's remark on this being solely for the purpose of humanity....

Pakistan parliament condemns hanging of war criminals in Bangladesh

@tsinga but not humankind as a whole... Nothing has been done for such a case on either side...

Pakistan parliament condemns hanging of war criminals in Bangladesh

Exactly! The supporters of the MB shan't be prosecuted! Selective humanity... Justice to fit their own bills... But they're doing what they believe is best for BD, and I don't blame them! I would have done the same, but to cry humanity is false....
