It was bit careless of the Indian gov't to let this project slip when really it was already in their hands. Seeing as the Philippine Navy is still has a requirement for ashm's, I would love to see these ships armed with the Brahmos.

To be fair, India would have actually bagged this contract if not for them being post-disqualified for financial reasons.

Interesting piece of news there. The Philippine Navy is ordering 2 of these frigates(batch 1) but with its weapons systems still being decided. Would be interesting to see these missiles on these ships patrolling the South China Sea.

Thanks to MaxDefense there's finally some news on the Frigate acquisition project! Design is still to be finalized by mid 2017 while expected delivery would be 2019 and 2020 for the first and second ships.

Based on this article, it seems that Digong has already been somewhat briefed by the DND. The good news is that the AFP modernization would go through under this new administration with Lorenzana explicity stating big ticket items like the frigates and patrol aircraft would not be cancelled...
