Why are you discussing Somalia here. Go to the relevant section and start another thread there. This is not the place.
@Deino are you going to negative rate this post as well. Or is it only reserved for non-NATO compatible POVs.
Agree.
Faisal Naseer should be in front of all the people of Pakistan, explaining why he failed so miserably in countering threats to the country.
There should be an audit of why terrorism is on the rise again in Pakistan under Faisal's watch.
I believe this is the crux of the matter here. The Pakistani Army elite is busy enriching itself and is playing political musical chairs. The country is bereft of any grand foreign or security policy as a result.
What military standards are you talking about?
In Pakistan we only have Army standard, otherwise known as the biggest mafia, involved in land grabbing, extrajudicial killing, extortion etc.
I really really wish that no other state institution follow this example.
Agree with the part that Pakistanis need to start living within means. Just wanted to add, that this talk of PTI or PDM is wrong. What really needs to change is the stranglehold of the Army on the whole Pakistani economy, its corruption which no one is allowed to talk about. And it's Generals...
If the Generals claiming themselves to be the height of purity and sacrifice, who never stop from constantly reminding everyone, who will listen, about the blood of shaheeds, indulge in ridiculous amount of corruption. Then that sets an example for the rest of the society to follow.
You can go at the edge of abyss and pull back a few times. Eventually your luck will run out and the abyss will swallow you.
I really hope the Army will loosen its iron grip on all the institutions of state of this poor suffering state before it gets too late.
In that case we would be talking about a parasitic Army being successful in killing its host.
If nothing changes soon Pakistan will be remembered as a country destroyed by its own Generals.
The Army should be taught to live within the means this squeezed country can afford.
To begin with the Fauji and Askari enterprises needs to be privatised to pay for the dire economic situation of Pakistan.
This will be the responsibility of civilian authorities if they Army let the civilian authorities make decisions. Unfortunately in Pakistan the Army has hollowed out all civilian authorities and is defacto ruling the country.
