Now SAAB offers Gripen with full control

When did the Gripen become 5th gen? No stealth, still using an F404 derived engine (GE would not sell the F414 cores, so the next revision will use F414s purchased from the US). What justifies the 5th gen claim? And why would India spread itself all over the map like this, with Rafales...

China to impose sanctions against US

Pfft. Sanctions limited to weapons suppliers, who don't sell to China anyhow. Or is China purchasing US weapons on the side somewhere?? Symbolic action only.

IN A WAR WITH RUSSIA, NATO HAS NO CHANCE

The only interesting thing about this thread is how it attempts to troll Americans, and got basically no response. Whatever guys.

14 dead in shooting at San Bernardino, Calif., center for disabled; 3 suspects on loose

Hazardous materials would have to be marked. Might be hard to see exactly what it was from the street if the package was left on the porch, or immediately received and taken inside.

14 dead in shooting at San Bernardino, Calif., center for disabled; 3 suspects on loose

Boston bombers were Chechen. The police could not sue you - that would be civil matter. They could charge him with interfering with an investigation, or disturbing a crime scene, or destruction of evidence, or the like - all crimes. But suing him would be out.

14 dead in shooting at San Bernardino, Calif., center for disabled; 3 suspects on loose

Yeah, this really torques me as much as the killings themselves. Some Muslim kills a bunch of people, and the Muslim community isn't thinking "how did this happen", it's "well, the most important thing is how this might have a negative impact on the Muslim community". Yep, dead non-Muslims not...

India on the lookout for fighters apart from Rafales

The F-18 was never in US Air Force service. It was always a Navy plane. The E/F is pretty modern, its been reworked many times. Clearly a Gen 4.5 jet. Variants have been proposed to move it closer to Gen 5, as an alternate to the F-35. The Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps have been...

India on the lookout for fighters apart from Rafales

Whywhywhy? Having a bunch of different aircraft that do basically the same thing, but require separate supply chains is pointlessly wasteful.

8 Things Vietnam War Movies Leave Out (By an Enemy Soldier)

No, he specified he was North Vietnamese, and fought against Americans. He was literally a winner - his side won. He just is being honest about his experience. FWIW, this was originally a Cracked article: 8 Things Vietnam War Movies Leave Out (By an Enemy Soldier) | Cracked.com Credit where...

Apple CEO Tim Cook: 'Why would you buy a PC anymore?'

    1) Screen real estate. I'm currently running a 24" and 28" monitor. Can't do that with tablet, they don't come that big. 2) Variety of input devices. Touch screens are good for a few things. Mice and keyboards are better for a lot of things. There are storage and processing advantages too...

The Vietnam war rememberance's day for Canada

? 11Nov is the end date for WWI. The date was made a holiday by the US, Canada, the UK, and probably others. It is known by different names in different places (Armistice Day, Veteran's Day, Remembrance Day, etc). In the US, it is the newer of two days of remembrance for veterans. The US...

Pakistan football - Is it a national shame they have never played in a World Cup?

One of our Olympic gymnasts was ethnically/genetically south asian: Raj Bhavsar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I think it goes more to the culture you grow up in. There are sports for every body type. For this thread - short players have done very well in soccer - lower center of gravity...

Pakistan football - Is it a national shame they have never played in a World Cup?

I don't think I'd rate sports as being "above" or "below" one another, generally. You could say one is more demanding of a particular kind of fitness, body type, or skill, but overall, sport doesn't lend itself to inter-sport comparisons. How would you compare wrestling and gymnastics? As far...

'Why should families of soldiers who die for country be compensated?' asks UP official

No one whines in the US because families being compensated is a settled matter. They are compensated, and no politician would think of saying they shouldn't be compensated. This guy's kids need to be drafted.

Pakistan football - Is it a national shame they have never played in a World Cup?

Most countries don't go. The only shame is if a team deserves to go, and does not - but that would be shame on FIFA.

Putin’s MiGs vs. US F-16s in Syria

No, missiles don't have pilots, which is the limiting factor for agile aircraft. The MiG-31 is not an agile aircraft in any event. It is an interceptor, not a dogfighter. I'd expect a PK around 50-60% for AIM-120s vs MiG-31s. The MiG is the wrong aircraft if you intend to intimidate opfor...

Putin’s MiGs vs. US F-16s in Syria

The AIM-120 is an air-to-air missile, not a MANPAD, with a 90+mile range in the latest variants. Speed is Mach 4. You are not outrunning it with a Mach 3 capable aircraft, particularly when aircraft accelerate slower. You are not going to be cruising around at very high speeds due to fuel...
