F-22's only advantage is in stealth performance. This comes at a 4-5x higher cost compared to the Su-57. Su-57 is a balanced design, alone its kinematic performance (with its final engines) makes up for the somewhat lower LO performance. As weapon system its superior due to cost-effect...

They are now state UAC. If it was Mig, then that free business argument could work. Su-57 is their top product, they will sell it anyway, but not to an ambitious country like Iran.

Russia almost certainly won't sell Iran the Su-57. As said in one of my previous posts: 4-6 squadrons of Su-35 would soften the pressure on Irans IADS from a concentrated enemy airpower attack on a single sector. But that's not a critical issue, just adds flexibility.

Love that statement on the video: Most important and critical system of the Su-57, is the engine. I also love this statement by Irans DM Hatami: 90% of our defense needs we meet by ourselves, the reminder 10% is not critical for our defense capability (meaning fighters and the air force) So...

Fair enough, can't argue with you on that, other than: Iran has no unlimited stock of such sights for new Karrars. Even if Iran has copied it: Its a complex non-TI sight, a modern design would probably cost less. It was used on pre production Karrars but I expect the final product to be quite...

Not economical for new built Karrars, but for existing ones yes. Plus missiles would lack TI night capability.

4 different tank TI gunners sights in Iran... A low-end for Chieftains: Army SSJ One for T-72M/S: IRGC SSJ This one, probably for T-72, maybe also for M60: DIO Karrar high-end one with ATGM missile guidance laser channel: DIO

Last year Iran showed a full blown X-band AESA, it should have been mentioned somewhere in this thread.

Sure but at least the Separ will likely go for a more advanced solution. Iran has already shown more advanced technology suitable. Its about costs and reliability. In that field this Kashef might be quite good. Btw. instead of being happy that it fits on a low-profile vehicle like a Toyota...

    Iranian Air Defense Systems

Its a promising development, because its just a SSJ project. This could be the minimum technology used for Oghab and Separ SHORAD systems. Compared to Tor-M1 and -M2 it has true and precise 3D capability but as for now shorter ranged. Its on pair to Pantsir-S1, which is again longer ranged and...

Can't expect too much from an IRIADF internal SSJ project but Kashef-99 could be quite useful as valley gap-filler. Critical, up to 24km wide ingress valleys, foremost threatened by CMs can be covered. It depends on the MTBF of the system and power consumption. If that is ok, it can align AAA...

And thats the point: Its not made for a traditional conventional opponent but for a future advanced opponent that intercepts your ATGM and stand-off NLOS subsonic weapons. In Syria thermobaric Kornets are the ideal weapon for such fire support as the enemy is not sufficiently mobile and armored...

Iranian Missiles | News and Discussions

Up to DF-26 range the ceramic radome solutions of the Chinese seems to be sufficient. The MaRV slows down sufficiently in upper layers to be slow enough to make the ceramic radome survive. A faster suborbitale "sat" may be necessary for longer range and faster weapons.

Iran will probably first go for high flying SAR equipped Simrogh/RQ-170 drones in future for stand-off surface vessel detection. From where you got this? Chinese AshBMs are not fast enough for orbital velocity. You probably mean a suborbital "satellite" but that would be quite an effort, given...

This is a fire support weapon, a survivable supersonic one. When tanks, IFV or infantry can't handle the threat on their own, they request it from rear positions and guide it with their laser illuminators. Data-linked IIR seeker would be prone to jamming Fiber wire IIR would not be feasable...

Iran successfully used Russian-made radar to track US F-35 jets — designer

No, for people knowing about the physics involved, won't think. Its like saying by 2200 speed of light certainly wont be the limit because people worked 180 years to overcome it. Or AIM-120 doubles its max. range with the same motor diameter and length from 50km to 160km in its recent version...

Hermes is a weapon system made to be used against capable opponents with air defense and APS. It uses speed to defeat AAA, SHORAD and potential APS. Thats the difference to subsonic Spike-NLOS-like missiles which Iran also uses. Its Russias next generation ground stand-off weapon and actually...
