I mean seriously the defence secretary has already made it clear that we have closed our doors on new built F-16's.....what was this man trying to do?????
@araz agreed but if we had to go for 18 we should have gone for it when the original deal was signed instead of waiting for 10 years to make the choice....the deal for 8 aircraft was called off not because of money but uncertainity....the rumblings in the US Congress had given Pakistan the hint...
Can somebody please educate me as to why are we hell bent on supporting the purchase of an aircraft that your enemy knows inside out???? I've said it before and i'll say it again if you want to go for a heavy twin engine fighter go for Eurofighter Tranche 3.....Kuwait is also going for it...it...
@smuhs1 is absolutely right....mood in the congress is not conducive for sales to Pakistan right now....better go for systems that can be integrated with the Thunders
I think i read this somewhere on this forum and believe me it was from a very knowledgeable member he said and am paraphrasing "If PAF had their way they would always select an option from the west before opting for something that comes from either China or Russia" and believe me EFT is the best...
Its a win win situation isnt it.....purchase of Typhoons may open up other avenues of co operation like Aesa for thunders and who knows we may opt for EJ 200 for JF 17s to maintain engine commonality of our fleet
Typhoon with the Captor aesa radar would rule the skies of south asia....should definitely go for it...it would checkmate anything our adversary already has or would have
Secondly the Typhoon story gets a little bit of credibility from the fact that it was recently flown from Lincolnshire by our...
After getting this news i checked out the specs of both EF as well as Su 35 and to make the long story short the EF lacks SAR which means its ground attack role would be limited not to mention the fact that it also cannot be used in anti shipping role as well therefore my take is if you are...
@Arsalan this is exactly what i thought when all this talk of integrating the Aselpod on the Thunders came up....we definitely need another hardpoint in the fuselage to accomodate the pod but the question is will it be done on block 2's or do we have to wait for the block 3's?????
@Tipu7 count me in that group too...when people here were talking about Thales Damocles i had a strong feeling that ASELPOD would be the right option for our Thunders....and i had voiced my opinion a couple of times in this regard too....am glad PAF has made the right choice
From the outset the aquisition of Su-35 from Russia seems to be a lucrative proposition with all the goodies that it can carry along with its range but given the service history of flankers with India....i mean indians have dissected this aircraft and know its manuvres inside out...would it be...
I've been saying this for a long time....looks like finally someone has heeded my advice.....believe me its a damn good pod and if integrated with the JF 17 it could greatly reduce the burden on our F 16's especially with the strikes in FATA and beyond
If Pakistan is really serious about this then instead of raising the issue at the UN the message should have been to shoot down incoming drones at will...
@Thorough Pro you hit the nail on the head....totally agree with you but the thing thats got me confused is why are we negotiating with the US for -16's in the first place if we dont have funds to procure them and secondly if we wanted 8 F-16's all we had to do was to sign the LoA and negotiate...
