FA-50 and JF-17 are the finalists for Malaysian Air Force's Deal: Korea Times

I think It is because someone has suggested that 1400km could be achieved without any external fuel tank.

TF-X Turkish Fighter & Trainer Aircraft Projects

I am pretty sure you understand that once you touch airframe, wing, engines (I think you even suggested that Hurjet could be equipped with a twin-engine in the future, but the change would make the development even more challenging) and other critical designs of the jet, you may have to take...

TF-X Turkish Fighter & Trainer Aircraft Projects

Is this an updated 3D image of Hurjet? since it looks very similar (if not exactly the same) with the 3D image posted on TAI website. I am not sure why TAI haven't updated the specs of the engine from 19,200 lbs to 17,700lb on their website since it has reported that have decided to go with GE...

Turkey’s indigenously-developed 1500 HP Tank Engine BATU Ignited for First Time

TEI engines (TD-170 and so on) are aircraft diesel engines, not turboprop engines (which are gasturbine engines). I believe TEI said that they could potentially convert TS-1400 into a turboprop engine by re-using the core engine in the future. It is very plausable, but I am not sure Turkey has...

Think of cheaper F-18 E/F Super Hornet with a bit of reduced RCS. Nothing special.

TF-X Turkish Fighter & Trainer Aircraft Projects

The US sanctioned particular indivisuals such as Mr. Ismail Demir, not the entire country (remember Trump was very reluctant to impose the sanction on Turkey). Is it still possible for Turkey to import American engines listed on both the United States Munitions List (USML) & the Commerce...

TAIS Unveiled BORA Class Combatant Ship Platform Designs

Aster-30 is much better at protecting a ship from threats such anti-ship missiles than ESSM. Aster-30's effective range is 120km and ESSM's is only 50km+. Not only that Aster-30 is fater (4.5 Mach vs. 3 Mach for ESSM Block I, 4 Mach for Block 2) and has higher service ceiling (20km vs 11km...

TAIS Unveiled BORA Class Combatant Ship Platform Designs

Exactly, so why did you mention packing all cells only with ESSM? I said you might want to load more SM2 and you went on trying to convince me that ESSM is better than Aster-30, which was irrational. It is better to have 32 Aster-30 than have 64 ESSM on ship. Again, European have a different...

TAIS Unveiled BORA Class Combatant Ship Platform Designs

The point is the design could accomdate up to 32 VLS cells and French VLS could be loaded not only Aster-15, but also Aster-30 which is superior than ESSM in intercepting fighter jets, missiles and drones for having an almost twice longer range. Whatever ESSM could do, Aster-30 could do it...

TAIS Unveiled BORA Class Combatant Ship Platform Designs

Glad that I remember correctly that FREMM-class frigate can accomdate up to 32 cells, not 16 cells. You might want to load more SM-2 rather than ESSM as Aster-30 is more comparable with SM-2 and I would take 32 Aster-30 over 64 ESSM anyday. And it is not like FREMM-design cannot adopt Amerian...

TF-X Turkish Fighter & Trainer Aircraft Projects

The interviewer should have asked about the engine, GE F404, to Mr. Copur. The US congress & governmental agencies are awefully quiet on this subject.

FA-50 and JF-17 are the finalists for Malaysian Air Force's Deal: Korea Times

It seems like Malaysians want an advanced trainer as well. I doubt JF-17 is a competitive training platform. JF-17 of being equppied with a Russian engine which is has notoriously shorter MTBO (mean time between overhauls) than American engines is another issue. The winner will be Boeing T-7A...

    KFX/IFX News and Development

KF-21 can carry 5,400 kg (12,000 lb) of fuel internally and 4 × 480 gal tanks, totaling 5,914 kg (13,040 lb). Rafale that was suggested to Indian Air Force was advertised to carry 4,700 kg of fuel internally and up to 6,700 kg of fuel externally. So KF-21 can carry more fuel intenrally, but if...

    KFX/IFX News and Development

KF-21 can carry more fuel (internally + externally) than Rafale just like F/A-18 Super Hornet does (if I am not mistaken). The Korean & Indonesian flighter jet has practically inherited all pros and cons of F/A-18 Super Hornet for sharing the same engine configuration and it was a predictable...

FA-50 and JF-17 are the finalists for Malaysian Air Force's Deal: Korea Times

I have always wondered how much specialised training that JF-17 (regardless the block) could provide. FA-50 is a trainer jet that could fulfill some jobs of full-blown fighter jets. If Malaysia seeks a trainer, then they should select a FA-50. However, if they stick with the name of their...

FA-50 and JF-17 are the finalists for Malaysian Air Force's Deal: Korea Times

lol I don't think this is true. It is pretty much a forgone conclusion that Malaysia won't select FA-50 unless the Korean government decides to spend $$$ on AIM-120 integration for KAI. FA-50 is an advanced trainer. Not a serious fighter jet.

Featured Russia want to sell SU-35 to Pakistan: BBC Urdu

Upgrade existing F-16 with Viper configuration and use the fleet another 20~30 years. It is really difficult to beat F-16V both in performance and maintance cost-wise. You guys could do AZM with Turkey or other partners in the future.

    KFX/IFX News and Development

Certainly. Rafale is inherently lighter and M88 consumes less fuel of being less powerful than F414. Hence, advertised ferry range of Rafale was said to be 3,700km (vs 2,900km of KF-21) when it was suggested to Indian Air Force. However, it also means KF-21 is probably better in acceleration &...

TAIS Unveiled BORA Class Combatant Ship Platform Designs

    Huh, I have always thought FREMM-class has 32 cells (16 + 16).
