TF-X Turkish Fighter & Trainer Aircraft Projects

More like of achieving reasonably low observability. Radar Cross Section of a target should be less than 0.01 m2 (a bird or a SR-71). I doubt even so-called Chinese 5th gen fighter jets actually acheive that number. Are you sure Turkey can get a permission from the US congress over F110?

F-15 and F-16 aren't the same. Over 4,600 F-16 fighter jets have been built and many of them have been manufactured under the license on non-American soils. With 25+ countries operating the aircraft including Venezuela, yes some F-16 parts will be available at blackmarket. However, there is...

Even France lacks the means to be totally independent of the U.S. “It is true that we depend on this (U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations) mechanism: We are at the mercy of the Americans when our equipment is concerned,”...

    KFX/IFX News and Development

If you look into the promotional video clip, the fighter aircraft doesn't have a conformal array and both EOTGP and IRST are exposed externally and no SawTooth pattern can be seen on the trailing edges jet engines, which means the aircraft would mostly likely to be a RO (Reduced Obeservable)...

    KFX/IFX News and Development

KF-X has always meant to be a single engine design. ROKFA wanted an indigenous fighter aircraft that is only slightly better than F-16 C/D with local avionics, not a full blown 5th gen fighter. Only because of political pressure and national rivalries with surrounding countries, the Korean...

Akinci & Aksungur and Turkish Unmanned Fighter Aircraft Program

Yes, that's the problem. Obviously, Wing Loong II with service ceiling of 32,500 ft isn't a HALE drone. All export-approved Chinese drones are inferior to Turkish Akinci UAV. Then again, America doesn't classify their Reaper/Avenger as a HALE drone, but a MALE drone.

Akinci & Aksungur and Turkish Unmanned Fighter Aircraft Program

That's interesting as I have not heard China of delivering turbofan-powered HALE drones to foreign countries. As far I know, China only operates a handful of them. I will check Chinese threads on that. Thank you.

Akinci & Aksungur and Turkish Unmanned Fighter Aircraft Program

Apparently, Indonesia has developed own UAV powered by Rotax engine (which is a popular choice for UAV). https://www.flightglobal.com/military-uavs/indonesia-rolls-out-indigenous-male-uav/135989.article Vietnam has their own UAV project...

That's great news. I hope the mass-production variant of Akinci ends up being with a pair of PW engines (PT6). I am always excited with new technologies and weapons, but I simply can't tell you guys a lie that Ukraine engine is a good idea.

There has been a few candidates including Australia. Their problem has always been prices. I mean look at their AESA radar-tipped missiles. Their capability is competitive in the global market.

Akinci & Aksungur and Turkish Unmanned Fighter Aircraft Program

I agree. Every country can't rely on others for weapon procurement 100%. We have seen how Turkey has failed to delivery attack helicopters to Pakistan and had to delay the shipment because the country couldn't secure engine export license from the US. There is no guarantee whether Turkey or...

China warns of ‘continuous harm’ to relations with Canada unless Meng Wanzhou is released

China is acting like a person who holds a gun against his head and threatens others to do his bidding. This is not only counter-productive, but also outright stupud. Same here in Australia. Lucky country is not so lucky for young professionals who just need a roof over their head. However the...

Akinci & Aksungur and Turkish Unmanned Fighter Aircraft Program

I am not sure why you are triggered and honestly I am not sure which drone you are talking about. Only fools would think Akini will be in the league with turbofan-powered Global Hawk which is one of the best surveillance UAV in the world. I am sure you are not the fool. Akini is probably more...

Akinci & Aksungur and Turkish Unmanned Fighter Aircraft Program

The US pretty much filled & is trying to fill out all UAV markets for each price. If prices are potential operator's concerns, the US is developing turbofans-powered XQ-58 Valkyrie and the unit cost of those drones is expected to be a mere $2 million US dollar. It will be very difficult to beat...

Akinci & Aksungur and Turkish Unmanned Fighter Aircraft Program

I am not sure many Western countries are interested in buying Turkish UAVs, though. Even oil-rich Middle East countries would prefer American drones if the US congress allows. I can see a limited number of North African and some Middle East countries may find Turkish Drones interesting, but I...

Thank for your information. Someone has to update that wiki page. However, according to this news https://www.defenseworld.net/news/25830/Philippine_Air_Force_gets_new_C_295M_plane_from_Spain#.Xs6GxTr7Q2w Philippines is acquiring a new C-295 for PHP1.8 billion (USD $35.6m). If this is true...

    KFX/IFX News and Development

A fighter jet program is different to a military transport aircraft project as a fighter jet is essentially a flying platform that carries weapons and those missiles and bombs need to integrate into a fighter jet. Block I of IFX/KFX is still a prototype in this regard. The jet would have only...

    Turkish Naval Programs

I have never heard of this term "light frigate", to be honest. Latest frigates of most major navies are between 3500~6000 tonnes. I think Japanese and Russia are only exceptions, then again they don't need many small frigates. From what I can see is that both Ada-Class and Istanbul-Class (which...

    Turkish Naval Programs

I don't particularly disagree and I commend Turkey's efforts. However, it seems like all frigates (since Turkey doesn't have any Destroyer) are based on foreign-design. You can't essentially mess up a proven design unless you are ASC. The defense minister expected to at least ASC to build...
